UPH worth it on short trips?

On 3 or 4 night trips is it better to get a UPH or would it be better to buy a PH or PH Plus? I am trying to plan a quick trip using new Spring codes. This is my first solo trip (no DH and we normally visit during slow times).

I personally do NOT think a UPH is worth it for a short trip. We just went for a week at Christmas, stayed onsite, but even this time I did not get a UPH. (First time in a while we did not get one.) I opted for a 5 day PHP and we spent the first day shopping at the marketplace at DTD (no ticket required) and the last day taking our time packing and sunning by the pool and playing in the game room. I think we have decided not to buy the UPH again unless we go for at least 10 days where we will actually have time to enjoy all the perks. We didn't even have time to use our plusses, so we have those for next time!

Really, the only reason I can see for getting one is that the "plusses" on a regular PH do not include Disney Quest and it IS included on an UPH.

Just MHO! ;)

Claudia, from your signature I can tell you've been to WDW many times. We've only been 3 times; the first time we went, I just went with a AAA package that included UPH (it was called length of stay back then). After that trip, I discovered Park Hopper Plus tickets and would never go back to UPH. I think UPH is good for first-timers because you have the flexibility to do many things in a day without worrying about losing a day off your pass. You can spend most of the day at a water park, and then just head over to MK for the fireworks if you want.

But as a WDW veteran, I think you can plan your trip a little better and a Park Hopper Plus is the better deal; plus, they never expire so if you want to take a day off and head over to NASA, you don't have to worry about "losing" a day like you would with a UPH.

My opinion: if you're going for a short trip, go for the park hopper; you can always use the rest of it on your next longer trip.

I don[t think ther3e is any advantqge or disadvantage to UPH versus hopper pass for long trip versus short trip except the cost per day for UPH gets lower the more days you stay in a row.

You will get a little more Disney fun out of a regular park hopper if you use plusses on days you do not go into the major theme parks. (Using a "plus" by itself does not also consume a "day".)

It depends on whether you will get use out of the 1st & last day of UPH. For our upcoming trip, we have UPHs. This is the 1st time since our 1st trip. I didn't feel we got our money's worth on the 1st trip. The deciding factor this trip was that both DSs UHPs were included (free) in the package we purchased. We did make a separate ressie for the day of arrival & the night before departure. This way we have 5 nights/6 days on UPHs plus a night at either end with no passes.

For our family, the way we hit WDW, the UPH has never been the best deal. But that is just us. I always check just in case :)

From what I can see, the UPH is best for longer stays, but if you are staying for 8 or more days, you want to look at an AP as a possibility as well. Disney is constantly tinkering with the pricing, so you need to investigate PHP, UPH, and AP for each trip.

BTW the 6-day PHP available through AAA includes the water parks. I don't know if the standard one does, but it is something to consider. You may want to chaeck out the deals available through AAA. It may be worth joining for the year if the deal is right.
