Last year we bought DD a 14 day ultimate and ended up upgrading it to an AP and it cost $120 (it was a child DVC AP).

When I booked for February I knew me & DH would need new APs so opted to include the 7 day premium ticket rather than the 14 day Ultimate as I thought I would have better luck with upgrading and I was right.

We tired to upgrade at DHS on our second morning as I wanted to get TIW card as we were eating at WCC that evening and I knew we would have Alcohol ;) I took the tickets in and to start with the CM told me that they couldn't be upgraded - I expained I had upgraded UK tickets before so she asked her colleague and said yes you can - you will get a credit of $240 per ticket. Considering I paid £235 I wasn't accepting that! I told her to leave it.

Later that day we popped to MK on the way to WCC and used the guest relations window outside the park who in my experience have always been the best when we have had ticket issues in the past.

I again requested that I would like to upgrade to a DVC AP and this time he said I would get a credit of $335 per ticket which was a bit more like it however I then asked why I was getting the full credit as a 7 day MYW PH with fun option. He said with MYW tickets they bridge the price by doing a procedure but as the UK tickets are not in the system to do upgrades on it isn't possible. I was very nice to him and he said give me a minute and he managed to bridge them to the full gate price of the MYW tickets. So we got a credit of $401 towards our APs.

Now talking to him - this is not going to be possible with the 14 day tickets - you will only be able to get the credit issued by the computer and they are unable to do anything to this. If you are buying a free dining package in the UK and know you are going to upgrade make sure you purchase the 7 Day tickets.

And my personal recommendation is to complete the transaction at the GR office outside the MK turnstiles :thumbsup2

That's great information and it's kind of what we are planning on doing later this year.

We have free dining with the 7 day premium tickets but my plan is to upgrade to non-expiry tickets as our current APs won't run out until October. Hopefully I will be able to do that and at least I now know just how much credit to look for:thumbsup2
