upgrading to virgin premium economy

Hi Guys,


After your advice again. We are going to Orlando in April flying with Virgin in economy. Booked our flights through virgin travel store back in June. We flew Premium Economy in October and have decided to do the same again for April. I phoned them yesterday but they wont let me upgrade the tickets. They say the only way to do is to pay extra when checking in. Anyone done this before? If so, how much did is cost.

your reply from travel store doesnt seem correct to me, because i upgraded throgh them and it was a peice of cake!!!!!!!!!!!
phone them again and try to book it, if you still get the same reply ring virgin atlantic and book it with them.
Im sure they will be glad to get a confirmed booking in premuim economy

I agree you should call up again and try speaking to someone else. If the reason is PE is full they can tell you that and might mean have a last try at the airport.But it doesn't sound as if they're saying it's full, just that you can't upgrade which isn't correct

That's odd I upgraded to Premium Economy with Virgin Travelstore last March just two weeks before departure and there was no problem at all.

As the others have suggested, I'd try again and see what happens, and let them know you know of people who've already done what you want to do (does that make sense?!).

We had the same problem last year, the reason was that the flight/car package we'd booked was a 'special price' - £1,100'ish for two adults including Car & Insurance to 2 weeks - and the only way to upgrade was to pay the full cost of PE flights, less what we'd already paid. The total bill would have been arround £2,500 - we've managed to get this years flights and car for the same £1,100 price.

In the end we upgraded at the airport for £300'ish for two adults, one-way, and although we were impressed with the legroom, we didn't feel it was worth £150 each for one-way. Especially as we'd managed to book the second row of two seats (row 63?) to give me some extra legroom.
