Upgrading to Premiere Passport

So I have a trip planned for January 2016 to both WDW and Disneyland. The opportunity came up for us to visit Disneyland in October as well. Economically it works out better to but a Premiere Passport but I have already purchased 10 day park hoppers for the WDW portion. Is it possible to apply our WDW tickets to a Premiere Passport at Disneyland? I know you can apply them at WDW but I can't find any information for doing it at Dosneyland especially with a WDW ticket.

I had a similar question a few weeks ago I didn't already have a ticket but I wanted to possibly upgrade a DL (I wanted magic morning) to the premier pass. We ended up just buying the premier pass. Anyway, people said it wouldn't be a problem. I don't see why this wouldn't work as it is upgrading a ticket into a annual pass for that park and DL. You will get credit for the purchase price of the pass. If it was me I would also bring my receipt for the 10day ph just in case there was any discrepancy in the price. I hope I'm right, perhaps someone who has done this will chime in. Perhaps there is an email or phone number you could call Disney and ask.

In case anyone wanted to know the answer to this. If you want to upgrade to an AP at the ticket booth, the ticket you have must be for the park you are at. So I can't use my WDW and apply them to the Premiere Passport at DL even though the AP is valid at both places. I'd have to do it in WDW at a WDW ticket booth. Same if you had DL tickets. You can only apply them to an AP at a DL ticket booth.

Perhaps you could buy a regular AP at DLR in October, and then upgrade to Premiere when you get to WDW, and have the value of the WDW ticket applied to the upgrade.

Disney has had a long standing rule that prohibits combining the value of 2 tickets and this includes combining an AP from one park and a multi-day pass from another to upgrade to a Premier AP. We tried this year's ago with our DL APs and still have the WDW tickets (which we finally plan to use this fall).

OP: I would bring your WDW multi day passes with you to DL, along with your receipt, and give it a shot. Expect that it will take some time to process and try to do it during business hours in Florida. If you bought your WDW ticket from Disney and they can't credit your payment towards a Premier, ask for a refund. Despite the no refund policy, Disney ticketing has been known to make exceptions. -- Suzanne

Does this mean you can't upgrade a WDW AP to a premier passport at DL???? We have WDW APs from January & decided to go to DL in September. We won't be back at WDW til December, so I was planning to do the upgrade at DL.

If we can't upgrade at DL, I can order discounted tickets ahead of time. If we get there & can't do it, we'll end up needing 6 days at full price. I wouldn't mind calling to ask, but we all know the info uou get on the phone is not always right.

You can do it, but they'll need to call FL to verify things. So make sure you do it during hours when WDW ticket booths are open. You should price out discount tickets too, because they may end up cheaper than upgrading depending on what level WDW pass you have.

DLR and WDW have different ticketing systems, and they're not linked together. The Premier Passport is basically two AP's existing with the same barcode.

But you can upgrade either AP to a Premier at either park, they just have to be able to contact the other park. It's been well documented that it can be done, it's just a pain.

I wasn't saying it can't be done, I was explaining why it's a pain.

How does my post indicate that DLR and WDW use the same ticket system? You're just going to confuse the OP's question when you quote someone saying they can do it and "explain" a reason that sounds like they can't. Your post makes it sound like your contradicting the advice that it can be done.

I did this a couple of years ago and it was a major pain. I had WDW APs and wanted to upgrade them to the Premier Pass. To begin with, you can only do this at the ticket booths at either DL or WDW. They can't help you at the hotels. The whole process took 20-30 minutes because they have to call WDW and verify the AP and the amount paid. They usually have to speak with a supervisor so that can extend your wait while they try to find one. You also need to find a CM at the ticket booth who knows how to do this. Our CM did not and had to call for help in completing the process.

TRUE...... we started with special priced DVC WDW Premium passes then upgraded to another special priced DVC Premier through DL ticket booth. The process took around 1/2 an hour to verify with WDW & DVC but no big deal! It did help our cause when they discovered we were previously DL Premium AP holders already in the system. Their ONLY mistake was they accidentally extended our expiration date to 4 months more than stated! Their LOSS was our GAIN!!!

Thank you all for the info on upgrading the WDW pass at DL. I'm prepared to spend the time necessary to complete the process. I think it will be worth our time in the money we'll save with the dining discounts alone. Glad to know it can be done!

One more question: do you think I can call the WDW AP line & confirm the price I will get credit for having paid so I'll be able to figure out my exact upgrade price ahead of time? Thanks!

I upgraded my Disneyland AP to premier at the Disneyland ticketbooth and it took forever. at least 40 minutes. After all of that, I couldnt make FP+ reservations so I called WDW support. They said it wasnt set up properly and said they would send it over to their IT department to get everything linked up. That took 3 days. I would plan ahead and make sure everything is all linked up by going on the websites and logging in and making sure your AP shows up properly
