I was wondering if anyone has had success at check-in requesting an upgrade to a King bed at POR without being charged extra. I would really like a King room but just can't justify the extra 20.00 that can be used on things like yummy food. :)

I think the king rooms go quickly here. I've stayed at POR many times and have tried to get king rooms that I've been willing to pay for and have never been able to get one. On one trip during check in I even asked if there was a king room available and that I would be WILLING to pay the difference and again no luck. I think if you want a king room at this resort you need to book early and be willing to pay for it.

When making a reservation for the weekend of the 21st, I booked POR.

I was thinking POFQ, but they ONLY had King rooms left, which I thought was odd. I was under the same belief that King rooms were something you needed to book in advance and be willing to spend the extra $$ on.

Sorry to be off topic..

My husband and I were there in August of this year. We checked in on August 11, around 3:30 PM. On a whim I asked for a "possible upgrade to a King room." Our check in person, who was "earning her ears", left for a minute, then came back and told us we could have a king room. When we got to the room, my husband and I realized that neither one of us had said anything about a "complimentary upgrade", nor was anything said about a price difference. We decided just to wait and see if anything was added to our bill, and what a nice surprize it was that NOTHING was added to our bill. Try it, what have you got to lose? :earsboy:
