Upgrading to Deluxe Dining?

We got a code for the free dining in December, we originally wanted to downgrade to the Quick Service, but recently our in laws told us that they want to tag along and pay for the whole trip :cool1::cool1:, so I was thinking that I would upgrade everyone to the Deluxe plan and get the MVMCP, and pay for it. This is still ALOT cheaper than paying for our trip.
So can anyone tell me how much it is per day/ per person to upgrade to the deluxe plan.?

I think it's $32/day for adults and $10/day for kids. We're upgrading during free dining because I love the deluxe plan!

Thanks so much I knew I would get an answer quick.... We have never done the dining plan so I was thinking about upgrading, because we were planning this trip anyways, plus we were going to get the quick service plan so so I will basically be paying the same and have the deluxe instead of the quick service!!!

It's too much food IMHO, we usually have leftover snacks with 1 a day being plenty with all of the food you get.

I don't know if you have tried the dining plan before, but with just the regular dining plan we found it to be alot of food. Also, I find that with the table service meals it is alot of time out of your day to eat. I think one sit down meal a day is a nice time to take a break, but I would think that more than one a day would almost become a chore to get to and take time out for. On the other hand if you all are going to do a lot of 2 credit meals then maybe that is a good choice for your group. Just my thoughts. With the regular plan we used up a lot of snack credits on the last day just to use them up.

Sorry, just re-read your post and you didn't ask about that, just wanted a price.

The $32/$10 price is correct for the upgrade. We love the deluxe plan! Just remember to also budget for tips. I have a spreadsheet that I put all of our likely menu choices into to decide which plan makes most sense for us and came up with a rough tip budget of $550 for 5 people (well, 6 but DD1 will share from our plates), 8 nights, 17 TS meals.

Do you want to upgrade to the Deluxe plan with 2 sit-down meals per day? If you want to the two sit-downs per day, that's going to take a lot of your time away from the parks and you can count on around a $40 tip or more per meal. It's A LOT of food, but I guess that depends on how much your family can eat.

We haven't found the tips to be quite that bad. The bill has to hit $200 for the tip to be in the $40 range and even with 5 of us only the signature dinners hit that mark, though Le Cellier and Teppan Edo come close. According to my spreadsheet, our tip budget (based on the 18% automatic that will be added since the baby makes 6) averages out to $24 per credit or $33 per meal.

With the four of us on the regular dining plan, we had a few meals where the 18% tip was $35.00. Our kids counted as adults so that would be 4 adult meals. If you have 4 adults plus the kids, you will be around that amount, especially at the signature sit-downs. Some were less, but nothing was less than $26.00. Our average was $30.00, but that's still pricey. We didn't leave 18% at the buffets though. Boma would have been $35 as well, had we left 18% for that buffet.

We've got 4 adults as well (3 real adults and an 11yo) and one child. Based strictly on the dining plan inclusions, our tips just aren't coming out that high by my math. What I did was set up a spreadsheet to tally our likely menu choices and calculate a tip budget based on 18% of that, so any alcohol or other extras that run up the bill aren't included in my calculations. For Boma, for example, I have a menu price of $30.99/adult and $14.99/child and a subtotal of $138.95 for all of us. That makes the tip $25.01 using 18% as the default. Of course if we have wine with dinner, we'll add quite a bit to that total, but since our drinking habits aren't relevant to the value of the dining plan, I don't account for that in the DDP spreadsheet.

Also, with the deluxe plan, the fact that you have TS breakfasts and lunches brings the average tip cost down a bit. For our ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast my tip calculation is under $13!
