Upgrading to AP

I know that this was probably answered somewhere but I can't seem to find the exact answer. I am taking my son for a surprise trip in December. I have a package with 6 day tickets already purchased. We are also going to be doing a family trip the following November so I am going to upgrade my ticket to an AP (woo hoo!). I know that I have to go to Guest Relations to do this, but I am not sure if I have to do this after I have entered the parks one time or just go and do it our first night before going into MK. Thanks in adance for your help!

Before or after you enter a park.
Doesn't matter.

You also don't have to go to just GR to do it, you can do it at any ticket booth. Sometimes they have a shorter line that GR.
