We have 7 Day park hoppers and decided we will upgrade to APs and take another trip within the year...

Hopefully someone can help me w/ a few questions...

1. our first day we will be doing Disney Springs. Should we upgrade while there or do I need to use the park hoppers first?

2. If I need to use the ticket first and if so do I need to upgrade on the first day or do I have all those 7 days to upgrade?

3. Once I switch pass to AP do I have a year from the date of the AP purchase or is it a year from the date of the day I first used the 7 day hopper?

4. Did I read correctly that photopass is included in APs now? How does that work? you get free downloads from photopass site?

5. Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

I'm pretty sure if you purchased your ticket from Disney before the price increase or from a discounted vendor then you need to use it first to get current value. If you purchased from Disney, after price increase, then it doesn't matter.

2. If I need to use the ticket first and if so do I need to upgrade on the first day or do I have all those 7 days to upgrade? You can upgrade on any day.

3. Once I switch pass to AP do I have a year from the date of the AP purchase or is it a year from the date of the day I first used the 7 day hopper? It's a year from the day of first use - either 7-day or AP.

4. Did I read correctly that photopass is included in APs now? How does that work? you get free downloads from photopass site? Yes, Photopass downloads are included with all APs.

Just so you know, Gold APs are now available to DVC members but they do have blackout dates.

1) it never hurts and sometime helps to use the tickets first. If you paid current full price direct from Disney (and not a resort/ticket package) it doesn't matter. If you paid less than current gate price of the MYW, then using first helps.

2) you can upgrade at anytime up to midnight of your 7th park day. AP gets some discounts so earlier days may help.

3) it's backdated to the date you first used your MYW. (Check the date sometimes the computer incorrectly pulls the ticket purchase date but CMs are happy to correct it)

4). The AP will "unlock" your Photopass pictures for downloading and borders.

thank you! thank you! thank you!!!

I did purchase before the price increase through undercover tourist.

It is good to know that I don't have to upgrade on the first day of use b/c I think the family will be so excited to start the fun that they wont want to spend too much time in guest services. But I guess if I want the photo pass pics from the whole trip it might be best to upgrade right away.

If I could ask just one more question, can I just go to guest services and take care of all of the passes? if so I assume I would need the original cards/passes I purchased and linked to our magic bands.

The photopass benefit will also be backdated to the date you originally used the tickets. No worries there.

Everyone 18 and older must be present with valid ID when you activate their Annual Passes. You can't do it all alone.
