If we are thinking about going from 8 dany hoppers to AP's, do we take a big financial hit by not doing so on the first day, but rather, the last day?

Curious. It looks like this may be the case.

Wade

are you useing MM if so use that and then upgrade. Me and mine have decied if we are gona do the aps were just gona get them right away or upgrade the first day. for all the benifets

The biggest financial impact is the AP discounts (10% or 15% off food purchases of at least $10 depending on your AP level, and 10% of merchandise) and the free parking if you are a Premium AP holder.

But, as mention by PP, you do lose your rights to MM if you upgrade to the AP as soon as you get there.

So, it's really up to you as to which is worth more--the money you will save from your AP discounts OR the extra hours in the park (assuming you have MM privileges).

You get full face value of your ticket, regardless if you upgrade on the first day, the fourth day, or the last day. The only money you would possibly be losing out on are the free parking, if applicable, and the discounts at select places.
Your PH does not lose value, as long as you do it before the last day is up.

HTH!!
BTW, how much is an 8 day PH?

Make sure you upgrade after you use your Magic Mornings (as Jade said) and after any block-out days!:thumbsup2

If you're staying at one of the DLR hotels, than early entry is automatically included. If you're upgrading to the deluxe pass, you should do so after any blockout days have ocurred. If upgrading to a premium and staying offsite, then you just decide if the early entries are worth the discounts you'll lose.

We had the 8 day park hopper tickets last December and my son and I upgraded ours to APs after using our 1 MM, this way we received our 15% discount on all our meals for the trip and the 10% for merchandise purchases. Plus it was great to have the parking included as well. My parents kept their 8 day hoppers.

It depends on how much you paid for the 8 day park hoppers. You have to upgrade to something at least the same or more.... I see that you are staying on-site, so you totally don't have to worry about waiting to use the Magic Mornings as you get those by staying on-site!! You can upgrade right away and get the discounts on food and shopping

I think the 8day hoppers were about 300 each for adults.

Thanks,

Wade

We leave for PPH in under 12 hours. Yay..!!

If they're $300, then you can only upgrade to the premium AP since the deluxe is under $300. Since you're onsite, I would upgrade as soon as you walk into the park so you can immediately take advantage of the discounts.

If you bought the 8 day hoppers with your hotel then you paid $204 for each adult ticket. You'll have to pay the difference to upgrade to whatever annual pass you want. Just something to think about... If you don't plan on going back in the next year it will be tough to make up the $$$ difference in just food and merchandise discounts. You are going to need to spend $650 on food per ticket to make up the $65 difference using the 10% food discount with the deluxe annual pass. If you want to make up the $185 difference you will spend upgrading to the premium annual pass you will need to buy $1850 in merchandise at 10% off or $1233 in food at a 15% discount or a combination of both. Remember you need to spend this much money "for each ticket" you upgrade to an annual pass. So unless you plan on coming back in the next year make sure it's worth it to upgrade!

I was wondering about this since we are getting 3 day hoppers (so we get an MM) and then upgrading to So Cal AP's. The 3 day adult hopper and the So Cal AP were the same price so I wasn't sure if you could upgrade when it was the same but now that prices went up the AP is $5 more than the hopper so I guess we're OK to upgrade.

i think ive decied that mm isnt to importion to us lol if we can upgrade we will when we get there in less we just buy the ap in stead of ph's

I'd like to know if anyone has done this (bought the PH online and upgraded) - but what is also interesting is that if you buy the 3-day PH at the ticket booth, it is $199, more than the SCAP.

I was just thinking about this after I posted. Since the regular price is more than the AP will I still be able to upgrade since I paid the online price? I hope so because I just bought the hoppers yesterday!!! AHHH!! If not, I guess we can always bite the bullet and upgrade to deluxe (maybe just upgrade the 2 kids to the So Cal since that is still less, I think)

As far as I know, they don't care what the normal price is, just what you paid. And from reading tons of posts with the So Cal question, you can upgrade to the SAME cost, just not to the lower cost, AP, based on what you *paid* for it.

I read on one of the other threads about the So Cal Fun Pass ($99 3 day parkhopper) that you could upgrade those to a So Cal AP so I guess it's the same thing? If you can upgrade that discounted ticket hopefully you'll be able to upgrade the online hoppers as well.....I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Just wanted to give an update.....I emailed the ticket inquiries department at DL and they said yes we can. Here is what the email said,
"Yes, you would be able to upgrade your 3-day parkhopper to the Southern California Annual Pass for the $5 difference in the price for the adult tickets. You can only do this at the park and this must be done by the last day of use on the ticket..."

So I guess we're good to go!!
