If one wants to upgrade to AP from multi-day hoppers, can they do so even after the PHs have been used? Originally, I was planning to upgrade during my trip after using MM from the PHs, but what if I forget or wait until later to upgrade? After the PHs are used, are they no longer active to be upgraded?

If I recall correctly the update has to be done on the last day the park hopper is valid.

So if you had a 4 day hopper, used all 4 days and try to go back on day 5 you can't upgrade anymore.

I think official policy is that once the ticket admission is used up, upgrading is not permitted. However, I read an instance here where somebody got sick on their last day, forgot to upgrade because of more pressing health issues, and went back to the ticket office the next morning to ask and Disney okayed the upgrade.

Remember that that the upgrade always backdates to the first day the original ticket was used and that all ticket add ons such as early entry, free parking, etc. are wiped out once you have the AP. Likewise, if you upgrade to an AP during your trip, any blackout days will apply to the AP once you surrender the original admission,(which is what happens when you upgrade to an AP).

From Disneyland.com:
"UPGRADES: A guest wishing to upgrade to an Annual Passport from another form of theme park admission media must upgrade on the same day in which the original form of theme park admission media is valid. If an upgrade to an Annual Passport is made from a multi-day ticket, the Annual Passport will be backdated to begin on the first day that the multi day ticket was used. A guest who chooses to upgrade to an Annual Passport from another form of theme park admission media must choose an Annual Passport of equal or greater value than the original theme park admission media retail price. Each guest wishing to upgrade his/her ticket media to an Annual Passport must be present at the time of the upgrade transaction. Used ticket media (other than Blockout Day Tickets) may not be applied to upgrade or renew an existing Annual Passport."

So my interpretation is... no.

You can't go back after your hoppers are used up. You have to do the upgrade on your last day. They do make exceptions to this rule but you need to have a good reason. :)

We had wanted to upgrade to AP's we were at the park the first of the month and just had a horrible time illness wise we were ther 3 days 1st day DS and I had stomach flu DS worse than me he spent the whole day in the room sleeping. 2nd day I still had it and 3rd day my Dh had it so the tree days were pretty miserable and what not we had wanted to upgrade but by the time our 3 days were up we wanted to get home and recout from the flu do you think if we called and explained our situation to them they may work with us. My DS also spent 2 hours in the nurses area of DCA and had to be driven back to the room and the hotel gave him two fast passes to use..We probably spent maybe a total of 24 hrs in the park over the 3 days...

You know, it's worth a try. Why not call and explain what happened? I know they've done this for one other Disboarder. :)
