I'm going to WDW in December. Some of my extended family may be going to WDW next year. I'm booked at CSR under the visa code right now. If I find out my family is going to go next year, it will be cheaper for me to get an AP. Will I be able to just upgrade my MYW tix to AP's when I get there and basically just pay the difference? Also, if I do that will I be able to get a disney dining experience card then and start using it right away?

Then the last question (yea right ;) ) If I get the regular AP and decide to upgrade that to premium, can you do that also? Or do you have to decide at time of purchase?

It seems it's best to use a day first then do an upgrade ,but you can just upgrade right away. The reason is what you paid for the ticket as to what gate prices are.

If doing more then 12 days total then most likely AP will be best.

You can call once you have the AP to get the DDE card but you can only call during business hours 8something to 5 Mon-Fri. You can pick it up and start using it that day after 5:30 pm at the Epcot GR outside the park.

If you have waterparks and more on your current ticket and use any of those you have to upgrade to the PAP if not then you can upgrade if you decide to.

:thumbsup2 Thanks. That's how I thought it worked, but I wanted to make sure..

We did this exact thing just a couple of weeks ago, and it worked great. We arrived at the Polynesian at 2pm, checked in and then headed right over to the MK. We immediately upgraded our tickets to APs, then immediately called the DDE phone number and ordered our card. Our temp card was available that same day, at 5:30pm, at Epcot Guest Services. Like I'mNoPrince said, don't forget that the DDE office is only open Monday - Friday, but if you order the DDE card on a Friday for example, you can still pick it up over the weekend at Epcot.

Have fun! :)

Let me see if I'm understanding this. I can upgrade my 7-day park hopper tickets to an AP, right? And if I wait to upgrade until I have used 1 day of them, I will pay the difference between the gate price and AP price as opposed to the difference between the actual price I paid and the AP price? I got them as part of a package so I'm sure I paid less than gate price.

You will pay the difference between the gate price of your MYW ticket and the AP no matter when you upgrade.

If you use a day first, your year of admission will start on the day you used the first day. If you upgrade an unused ticket, your year will start on the day you do the upgrade.

If you want to upgrade you have to do it within 14 days of the first use. No exceptions. Doesn't matter if you have the no expiration option or not.

How much is it to upgrade. Let's say I have a 10 day park-hopper. I know it is just simple math, but I have not been able to figure this out :teacher:
