We bought a package via disneyland and we are wanting to upgrade to annual passes when we get there. On the phone the lady told me to upgrade the first day we got there and that we had to do it that day. She also said that we would lose any of our other items from our package such as the morning madness, early entry, and other stuff. Is this true? I remember reading in the past about people saying to wait until you use the other things.

Thanks
michele

I think you can wait until the last day you are there if you want. As long as you do it before your pass expires.

You can upgrade at any time, after you use your morning magic. The other things are in seperate vouchers and don't go away. Where are you staying, because if you are staying onsite, then you get morning magic each day it is offered.
Compare that to the discounts that you won't get until you upgrade. You do get 10% off most food, so for my family, we saved at least $10 a day.

Congratulations, and hope you have a wonderful trip.

You definitely do not have to upgrade on your first day. I did it on our third.

The only thing you will be losing from the package is the Early Entry, but if you're staying on site you get that anyway.

I am not exactly sure how you could lose the Toontown Morning Madness access. You get separate vouchers for that, this has nothing to do with the actual entry ticket.

You can upgrade at any time before the end of the last day of use. So, if you go over a weekend you should wait until after any blackout days to upgrade, unless you're upgrading to Premium in which case you won't have any blackout days. :) We upgraded the first time on a Saturday, our first day of use for our 5 day hoppers was the Monday before so we were good.

If you're staying onsite, you can upgrade at any time (making sure you don't upgrade before any blockout dates of course), because you get Magic Morning (aka early entry) from staying onsite.

If you're staying offsite and MM is important to you, that is linked to your ticket, so you want to upgrade AFTER you have had your MM day. That could just be later in that MM day.

As everyone else said, MTTMM is a separate voucher, the lanyard/pin is a voucher, the downtown discount card is a separate card thing...the only thing you lose is your souvenir ticket, basically (and the MM if you haven't used it and you're staying offsite).

The AP will be backdated to the first day you used your ticket, just so you know.

Thanks so much everyone. We are staying offsite. I wonder why the lady told me that on the phone. I did not understand that either. It looks like I will then upgrade after we use the the morning madness because I figure that would be a good thing for my little guy to see. He is going to be 21 months by the time we go.
Thanks again
Michele

also...can the Birthday Fun card be applied to the upgrade price?

YES! it can!!! It's good for tours, upgrades and merchandise but not food. :) Well some prepackaged food but not restaurants.
