Upgrading to annual pass before arrival

I posted this question on another thread, but can't seem to find that, so sorry for the repetition!

I have 7 day hoppers for our upcoming trip that we've not decided to upgrade to an annual pass. Is it possible to do that before hand, either online, on the phone, or at a Disney store? We're going in late January, so would love to do the upgrade now to get the 13 month promotion if possible.

Thanks!

To go a little further..not to hijack the thread...but if they go to the park to upgrade current passes to AP, is it possible that they might then be eligible for any AP discounts on their room?

My guess is no. I think how you book your room is the rate you get.

It used to be that you could book an AP room and if you didn't have your AP until arrival, you just had to go back to the front desk in the first couple days and they could see you had your AP and you'd be good to go. Now I think its a little more difficult to get into the passholder section online and you really need either your actual AP or a voucher. Perhaps you could go thru a travel agent and book it that way. In any event, I think AP rates need to be reserved in advance.

If your tickets were purchased outside of a package you might be able to have them refunded and then you can purchase APs. That's what I was told when I called ticketing about "upgrading" to the new 13 month AP. I haven't done it yet, but the phone CM gave me the directions and made it sound easy.

Last December, we booked with WDW a club level room at AKL and booked it with an Annual pass rate....when we did NOT have an annual pass. I told them I intended to upgrade to an AP on our arrival day first park visit day. They said as long as I presented the AP within 24 hours of arrival it would be fine. That's what we did and all went great.

If they are going to upgrade once there, and if there are AP rates to book, book it then show the AP after the upgrade.

A non-AP holder can call to get and book AP rates.

Agreed.
And to take it one step further, since the guest's files contain all ticket data (including upgrades,) and most guests use on-line check-in and never even visit the front desk, it would be very, very likely that the guest would never have to "show" the AP to anyone at the resort, anyway.
