I am a pretty new DVC owner and am looking at booking in a 1 bedroom for the first time this November for race weekend. We usually stay in studios but we want the extra space this time. I didn't realize that in most of the 1 bedrooms they have sofa beds. Are they comfortable for adults or is it better to spend a little more for a 2BD or a 1BD in a resort that has a queen trundle bed.

We've had adults in those beds plenty of times. Not a great bed, but an adequate one.

I do t mind them at all. Right now, the only resort you would be able to know for sure you’d get it is at Rivera. They are putting them in at SSR but no guarantee you can get one there. Although if you book a preferred room, you’ve got a chance

Yes, this. The queen murphy is much more comfortable than the sofa sleepers. But the sofa sleepers are ok. People have different views on them. I'd still rather be on a sofa bed at WDW than a real bed somewhere else, but would use extra points to have a murphy bed instead.

I've slept on the sofa bed at AKV and it was fine. I didn't hurt any worse when I got up in the morning then I do on any other resort bed.

In my experience(which is every trip we take do to the way our 3 year old sleeps) the full size couch beds in the 1-bedroom units are much more comfortable than the loveseat pull outs the studios have.

We are a family of 3 and as my DS got older (he is now 12), we switched from 1-bedrooms to 2-bedrooms for this very reason as he found the sofa pull-out beds to be very uncomfortable. We just stayed in a 1-bedroom in Riviera and he loved the pull-down bed. He said it was definitely more comfortable than the pull-outs. I, personally, would recommend doing a 2-bedroom or a 1-bedroom in a DVC that has the new pull-down wall beds.

DH spent the entire weekend of running the Dopey sleeping in the sofa bed at BCV, and never had any problems (well, none related to the sofa bed).
