Upgrading tickets

I bought the buy 2 get 2 days tickets for our family's trip in May. I am thinking of upgrading 2 of the tickets to a season pass to take advantage of an offer of getting an additional months for the pass. I saw that the pass needed to be activated by April. Would I still be able to upgrade 2 of our tickets even if we we won't be there until May?

Thank you

I had a really long confusing and frustrating conversation with one Universal rep through Twitter messaging. First I got a Yes I can then I got a Oh sorry, no you can’t.

I had previously emailed them through the Universal site and didn’t get a reply for three days so I decided to tweet them instead.

Then I got my simple and clear email reply last night:

Thank you for contacting Universal Orlando Resort™ Guest Services.

I am happy to learn you are considering joining our Annual Passholder family! In order to qualify for our current Annual Passholder promotion for the additional three (3) free months, you must both purchase and use your Annual Pass for the first time by April 4, 2019. If you purchase your Annual Pass in April but are not able to enter the park with it until November, I regret to inform you that you will not qualify for this promotion. I truly apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this causes. Should you have any further questions or concerns regarding your Annual Pass, please do not hesitate to contact our Annual Pass Department directly. They can be reached via telephone at 1-866-PASS-4-FUN. I hope this information was helpful.

Again, thank you for contacting us.

The “activated by” date is the “use by” date. I don’t know why they don’t just say “use by” like they do for the regular tickets.

I found that confusing.

The rep on Twitter also told me that usually if there isn’t a promotion attached you can activate the pass any time you want after the purchase date if it’s paid in full.

Originally they wrote the following, then said he was wrong:

If you pay in full, the expiration date would be 15 months from the day you activate it in the parks (first use). If you decide to do flexpay, it would be 15 months from the day you purchase it.

So if I am understanding this correctly, the answer is no, I am not eligible for the additional 3 month promotion because I will be arriving and "activating" the pass in May, after the promotion end date. Thank you for your help.

Correct. You'd have to use it in April. I went back and forth with the rep on Twitter. Originally he told me the website was all wrong, and I could activate it in November (my trip, yours would be May) if I paid in full, etc. I almost bought them right then and there, but by the time I told my husband we could get them the rep messaged me again (in reply to a different question) telling me he was wrong, because it's a special promotion, etc etc.

I'm hoping there will be another promotion after this one ends in April... but I'm not sure because someone on this site told me that with the new Harry Potter ride opening this year they probably won't offer any other promotions.
