Upgrading tickets to the DVC discounted APs

Hi All. I know you can typically upgrade tickets to an annual pass before your stay is complete, but does anyone know if there are restrictions on doing this for the DVC discounted platinum plus pass? Right now, I am not sure if my planned November trip is going to happen, so I didn't want to commit to the annual pass before I am 100% sure I am going. So, I was thinking I would just buy a 5-day ticket so I can try to get some fast passes booked and then upgrade the tickets once we are there. TIA.
 
I could not swear to it, but I have a memory that the offer was only valid through October 1. If true, waiting until your November arrival would be beyond the window of the DVC offer.

Oct 1 is the 13 month AP renewal deal.

The DVC PP AP should be valid for AP purchases through the end of the year.

We upgraded standard MYW tickets to the DVC PP AP in July.

It's been years since I have upgraded a pass as we always have AP's. We cancelled our trip this week due to Irma. My sons GF had a 3 day park hopper which will now not be used. I'm wondering if I can reassign the pass to me and then use it towards my AP renewal?

Yes, I have done this but I did it in person. You can renew with a phone call but if you want to use a ticket towards the upgrade I believe that it may need to be done in person.

I won't be able to since our AP's expire this month. We're not going back until December.

Aw, that is too bad. I guess if it was me I would call and ask just in case. In the mean time, you could still transfer your son's GF hopper to your MDE and use it in the future for another trip.
