Upgrading tickets question

I know this is probably a super easy question and I did try searching for an answer but I just want to be certain so I don't goof up.
We usually get the DL / WDW Premier passes that we buy at DL so we have never had to upgrade anything. But my husband and I had already decided to buy DVC WDW APs for our upcoming October trip and not do the Premiers. (Now that the Premier Pass is at $1439 a person, we definitely just don't see a value in them - especially for a family of 4.) So we have our vouchers for the old DVC APs which I guess we will be given Platinum passes when we get there in October. But we are going again as a family in December and my Fastpass+ window is coming up, so I need to get my two daughters their admission so we can make our Fastpass+ selections.
So here's my question...Can I buy 10 day magic your way tickets for each of my daughters to make the Fastpass+ selections and then upgrade to the Platinum Plus passes when we get to Florida? (My daughters like the water parks so we get them the PAP / Platinum Plus passes) Can I do this at any of the guest service counters at the parks? And if so, I suppose they will just want to see my DVC card and a driver's license, right? It would give me more time to save up the additional $ with the price increases. If I can't, do I need to call member services?
Thank you in advance

Yes. 10 day MYW tickets will allow you to make up to 10 days of FP+ reservations, and can be upgraded to AP's within 15 days of 1st use (as long as you have not used up all 10 days). Their AP will be back dated to the 1st day they used the MYW ticket.

Yes. There are guest relations inside and outside each park.
It doesn't hurt, and may help to enter a park before upgrading to an AP (I generally wait until an afternoon park break)
You can save a little buying discounted MYW tickets from an authorized reseller like Undercover Tourist.

Upgrades must be done within 14 days of first use.

So let me ask this...... if we bought 5 day MYW tickets for black out dates and then upgraded to AP do we upgrade before we use day 5 or can we go thru the gate on day 5 and then upgrade after we spend the day in the park??

I saw a mention that some variation of that technique is valid at Disneyland.

I'm guessing you would have to upgrade after entering your last park on day 5 if it is possible at WDW.

In that case, you need to upgrade on day 4 or earlier. You have to have some days remaining in order to upgrade a ticket.

Someone else mentioned this type of loophole for the special Florida resident "weekday" pass. They say you can use the tickets on a weekend and then upgrade to a weekday pass. So, it might work. But we know that you can't use a waterpark day and then upgrade to a pass that does not include water parks. So, maybe not.

That's not accurate. You can upgrade on your last day. In certain, very specific circumstances, you can upgrade even later.

These are the types of threads where I miss Cheshire Figment :( He could give the definitive answer on what the policy currently is for every ticket situation. Although true, sometimes it depends what CM you get, lol.

I am scared to ask...but what happened to him?

Sorry, I thought that was the information I was given when I asked about this previously myself. I apologize for my error.

:worship::yay: I so agree!

OK along these lines...if I have a 6 day no exp child's ticket that we have not used yet...can we upgrade it to an adult AP DVC ticket? TIA

You should be able to, but it might not be worth it. Since they don't sell the ticket anymore, and since it's never been used, you'll likely receive credit for the price you paid for the ticket originally, or, if you purchased from a third-party reseller, the price they paid for it.

That is what I thought too. I have a 10 day no expiration ticket that I bought for my son that has never been used. Better off keeping that until I have a grandchild than upgrading for the price UT paid for it 6 years ago. Glad I only have one like that.
