Upgrading third-party ticket to book FP?

We have a trip planned Aug 15-23 staying onsite. We currently have 4-day hoppers (purchased through UT before date based pricing). We ended up extending our vacation and will be upgrading to an 8 day hopper ticket. Our FP day is coming up in a week, and as I was reading through the FP FAQ I saw this:

Onsite guests can book FPs for their entire stay including arrival day and departure day, for as many days as they have tickets for.

Does this mean we’ll only be able to book 4 days of FP, even if we have an on-site reservation for 9 days? If so, is there any way to upgrade our tickets beforehand so we can make FP? I thought I read you can only upgrade third-party tickets onsite, so are we just out of luck? That would suck because our first AK/HS days are our 60+1 and 60+2 days

You've never been able to book FP for more days than you have tickets for, regardless of length of onsite stay. Even with the old non-date-based tickets, if you only had 4 days of entrance, you couldn't book 8 days of FP.

I don't think you can upgrade remotely before your trip starts.

Yes unless you want to purchase another set of tickets to link to your MDX account to book FPs and then save the tickets for a future trip after you upgrade the original set of tickets.
