I'm curious about something and I figured this is the place to ask...

I heard Disney has plans to upgrade the FW pool to a more elaborate, themed pool. Is this true or is it just another Disney rumor? If it's true, does anyone know when the work will start and when it is supposed to be finished?

I tried to search for the answer myself but you know how the DIS search function can be ;)

Thanks :goodvibes

From what I see at this point it's still rumor,,but hey,,you never know with Disney.
If they think it'll help to squeeze another dollar out of you,, it's possible.

But thats just my opinion.

Nope,,gonna turn RC into a Kungaloosh Bar, wet and wild style, no kids allowed. Now theres a rumor for you !:rotfl2:

River country is like the train, peacocks, petting zoo, deli at trading post and my hair is gone forever.

  :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I can vouch for all these things, seen all them in person, all gone.:lmao:

The other thing that's long gone is the chuck wagon that used to drive all the loops in the morning. You could buy milk, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, sugar, ground coffee, donuts, pastries & the morning newspaper. IIRC, that ran for about 5-6 years when FtW was still "young". It sounded an "ah-ooo-gah" horn as it entered the loop to let you know the delivery truck was on it's way.

Before the peacocks, there were roosters free-roaming the Fort.

Debbie,
I envy you for having been able to experience the fort in it's early days. Definitely sounds like it was full of neat things to see and do. I wish I had been there when the train was running at the campground - that would have been awesome to see. I've only been camping at the Fort for about 7 years so I missed seeing all of the great things in the past.

Of course not sure if it is true, but on Satuday as we were checking out I asked again about premium sites and was told again that they would be sites within loop not entire loop and that 100-300 would still be preferred.
He also mentioned that the pool would be redone in January and February 2009, it seems to me that 2 months is not long enough for all that work, but what do I know....

that would have been cool.

The pool rehab has been floating around for a couple of years now. Until I see the fence and the backhoe its just a rumor.
I am looking forward to being able to use the pool at Wilderness lodge during the work....... :cool1:

When I made my ressie for March, I asked the CM on the phone about this. He told me that it would be finished in time for my trip. And we ALL KNOOOOWWWW that AAALLLLL CMs know exactly what they are talking about. :lmao: :rotfl2:

I called the GC rental place and was told by the manager that they were going to begin (or finished in I can't remember which) the pool remodel in Jan 09. :cheer2: A different CM said something about a fountain; which I took to mean something like ASMo. They didn't say anything about a slide but we can still hope. ;)

Thanks for posting those pics, any idea where the bottom one was taken ?, which loop ?
Unfortunate, no - it was taken 25 years ago. It was probably in the same loop we camped in, and I have a photo of the site, taken just as we arrived, but it does not show the site number anywhere.

We LOVE old FW pics around here! Please post away! :goodvibes
