Hi all,
I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the right page but I'm looking for some advice, please.
I have a reservation at Kidani Village in September for 14 nights in a value studio, and I arranged this through David's DVC rentals earlier this year.

I'm now wondering if it is in any way possible to upgrade that to a one bed villa? Is it something I should try to do with David's or with Disney, or is it simply not possible at this stage?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Diane

Its probably not possible at this stage. You'd have to work with David's, who would have to work with the owner of your points. That owner would need to have extra points available to rent to you, and then the resort would need to have the unit available. The chances that DVCRequest would be willing, the owner will have the points and be willing and that the room will be available this close to your trip all happening are pretty much nil.

You will need to call David's for this. I'm not sure they can do anything for you. First they would need to see if there are any one bedrooms available at the resort you want. You have basically already contracted with a member who is letting you use their points. They could possibly contact that owner and see if they have more points they would be willing to rent out to you. My guess would be the owner would say no. I don't believe you can just cancel with the owner you have already contracted with and try to work with a different member.

So, the question is, can you contract with another owner that David can combine with the current owner's points to put you into a one bedroom? I'm just not sure. My thought process is telling me no, but maybe someone else will know better.

No, this won't work. You can't mix two owners' points for a single night's reservation, so you can't say, I have a reservation with owner A for a studio, add in owner B's points and then give me a one bedroom.

You could extend a stay that way....I have a reservation for a studio for Mon-Wed from owner A, I can have owner B make me a reservation for Thurs-Sat. But upgrading doesn't work that way.

And BTW, David's themselves can't do anything with the reservation. They don't make reservations, they don't have points. All they can do is put owners and renters together and handle the paperwork and money.

You better check on what you think you have, there are NO value studios at Kadani. Good luck!!

You need to look at your contract with David's. I don't think they allow any changes. Besides at only two months away who knows whether any one bedrooms are available for 14 nights.

BTW, like BillPA said, Kidani Village does not have any value villas. All of the values are at Jambo House.

I have been a renter and rentee with David's, and there are no changes allowed. Also checking on availability you would be hard pressed to get 14 days together at any resort.

Thank you all so much for your help - it makes sense and is clear in my mind now that upgrading won't be an option this time. ;)

Hmmm I also hear what you're staying about value studios at Kidani... Having checked my reservation I have a Deluxe Studio Standard View. I'm not sure what the difference is between value (at Jambo) and deluxe (at Kidani) but either way I'm delighted to be going and am grateful to those of you that took the time to reply. Thanks again! :)

A value studio is smaller than a deluxe studio, therefore requiring less points. You have a standard view which means you will not have a room on the savannah.

well...a few are "obstructed savanna view" but not many...
