Upgrading partially used PHP to MYW

I know there are many posts on this issue, but I couldn't find my "exact" question, so here it goes:

I purchased 5-day Park Hopper Plus (2) tickets from Ticketmania (2x adult, 1x chil) November 2004. During our visit there, we used up 2 days for the theme park and did not touch the "plus". This was my kid's first visit there, and he loves it. With the new structure of MYW, I would like to explore "upgrading" these partially used tickets to something longer for future use, including our upcoming April 2005 visit, to something like 7 or 10 days MYW tickets (non-expiry, hop ?, plus ? ):

1. Approximatly how much are these (3 days park, 2 days plus) worth ?

2. If the unused "plus" are NOT figured into the value of the tickets, should I use them up FIRST before trading them in ?

3. Should I even do this ? I suppose it is a very subjective question, any opinions is appreciated

Thanks in advance.

The "plus" options have no value. For a good estimate, take your original price of the ticket, divide it by 5 (original # of Days) and multiply by 3 (Days Remaining).

Also, my understanding is that it must be traded for a "like style" ticket...in other words, your MYW ticket would also have to have the plus options and non-expiration option, which will increase the cost. You'll probably be better off simply using the 3 days remaining on the ticket "as is", then go ahead and purchase your MYW ticket for how ever many additional park days you need.

Or, buy a MYW ticket that expires, use it first, then use your old hopper...that way, if there is a bad weather day or other unexpected non-park day, you'll still have your old ticket for future use.

The only way you can get an exact figure of what they are worth is by having Guest Relations scan them. But the rule of thumb that will work out pretty close is to take 3/5's (60%) of the price you originally paid for the ticket. That's what it is worth now.

You will lose all unused plus options when you turn in the old ticket. They will not be added to the new ticket even if the new one has plus options. Each admission to water parks is worth about $36/adult, $30/child if you had to buy single day tickets.

Whether you should do it is something only you can decide. Much would depend on how often you visit WDW and what you plan to do while there.

In Jan. I traded in a 2 day Park hopper ( no plusses) for a 7 day MYW plus with no exp. ( I do not remember the exact credit) . The person at guest services gave me a VERY hard time and I had to be persistant puckerup: . He said that they do not do this anymore because of the new MYW tickets. He did do it BUT he had a to get approval from someone else. GOOD LUCK!!! :earsboy: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

Thanks for the replies. E-mail to WDW confirms that I have to do this in person (they have to scan the tickets), I suppose if it is only 60% of ticketmania's 5-day PHP prices then it would not be worth it to upgrade. Will locate the Customer Relations @ Downtown Disney the night before so not to waste time at the park.

Oops -- Very bad. You sacrifice all the advantage of the cheaper sixth, seventh, etc. days.

Better to buy a new pass to cover all of this vacation or more. Save the old pass for a future vacation that is very short or a future vacation when no new passes are needed.

If you hold on to the old pass as-is a little longer, you may find an opportunity to use the plus first, then trade in the old pass during a future vacation.

Try the WDW Ticket Cost Analyzer that I created to help with questions such as these. Click on the ink in my signature to download it. It's an excel spreadsheet

As far as the plus, since it has no credit value toward a new ticket, it might be best to use it.
