Upgrading Magic My Way tickets through Air Miles

Has anyone upgraded Magic My Way tickets they got through Air Miles for an annual pass? Is there a difference in value between the 7-day basic adult ticket (2170 points) and the 5-day ticket with more options (3175 points)? Just curious as to which one will give me the best value.

Done this a number of times. Have always upgraded the 7 day (old Park hopper) and now 7 day MYW/no exp/hopper. The cost to do this this past December was $70AM for a regular (not premium) AP. They take the base value of the discounted ticket airmiles has paid for, and you pay the difference.

Thanks for the reply dhluvsDisney! I guess I might be better off getting the 5 day MYW pass, sounds like I'd be able to get a bigger trade-in value.

I think that new this year (2006) the trade up value is what Disney got from the ticket wholesaler, not the gate price. So the amount you need to pay to upgrade a ticket could be more than you expect. Ask the value before actually going ahead with the upgrade and feel free to step out of line and think about it.

You can upgrade to MYW Premium with Air Miles?

My DBF and I are getting the DDP special offer from August 28th to Sept. 4th ...if we were to book this, and then go to Air Miles with our package, can we upgrade to MYWP?

You can do this by getting 1 day park ticket with the DDP and then using airmiles for your additional days.

Thanks for the tip I looked up the value of MYW tickets on All Ears so I've got a rough idea of what they're worth before the ticket wholesaler discount. I guess there's no way to find out in advance what kind of value the tickets might have?

If I read correctly you can't take a ticket bought with cash and use air miles to expand it, rather you can take a ticket bought with air miles and use cash to expand it.

In most cases using cash to add another day to a ticket bought with air miles consumes less cash than the cost of a separate 1 day ticket such as came with a package that you might use as-is on a non-hopping day or on your last day instead. But ask first at Guest Services or Guest Relations at the moment you are planning to do it.
