Hello all,

I can't remember that I've seen this question answered, at least I cannot seem to find it if it has been before so my apologies in advance if I missed it.

My DH and I are going to upgrade our 5 day hoppers (which arrived yesterday- yay!!!! :maleficen:maleficen:maleficen) to APs when we get there, most likely on our first day so we can start getting the discounts and be sure to get it at Steakhouse 55 that evening. I know that you can upgrade prior to the pass being used in full, but can you upgrade prior to the pass being used at all in the park? So, our plan is to check into the GCH around 11 I am assuming, drop off luggage and head to the park for lunch and some rides. I just wasn't sure if we should upgrade before going into the park to begin with or wait and upgrade on our way back to the hotel to get our luggage to the room and change for dinner (which is at 7:30pm).

Anyone know?

That's just what we did last March--upgraded our hoppers before first use to APs at the ticket booths. Easy peasy.

I believe you can upgrade anytime before the ticket expires.

if you are getting a Premium pass you can do it anytime and parking is included.

if you are getting a Deluxe pass, there are blackout days (Saturdays peak season) so you have to look at your schedule to see if that might effect when you upgrade. in the past if you bought or upgraded on a blackout day you were allowed entry that day. parking is an extra add on.

Blockout days still don't apply to upgrades.

They no longer offer Blockout Day tickets for APs to purchase. They will still issue Blockout Day tickets if you Upgrade, Renew in person, or Purchase a new AP.

We are planning on doing the same thing, I have AAA, so that gets me some discounts already for food and stuff as well as a Disney VISA, same thing. So we are waiting until after MM so that we can take advantage of MM before upgrading to the AP. Don't know if that matters to you. We don't need the parking, etc. since we are flying in and walking everywhere.

Have you confirmed this at the ticket booth lately? Because I was told in June that they don't offer a blockout if you upgrade anymore. You just have to use the ticket first, then upgrade before you leave. I was upgrading to a So Cal Select at the time.

They're staying onsite, so they get EMH anyway.

Yes you can upgrade right away and if you pay for parking they will deduct it.

Just to clarify, that's if you park at a pay-as-you-enter theme park lot. They won't apply what you paid for resort hotel parking. Or DTD.
