Upgrading from Regular to Premium AP with DVC Discount

Hi everyone--

I just wanted to report that they are no longer allowing an upgrade from a regular AP to a premium AP when the regular AP was bought before the DVC discount. I have a week left on mine, and they said that I would have to pay full price (yet they kept trying to get me to renew even though I won't be back for 2 years at least!!)

Here's the explanation-- there is a glitch in the system. They admit that they were granting the upgrades for awhile until they caught the glitch. The glitch is still in the system, so they may still grant it, but supposedly, the system would track it, and the CM said he would have gotten in trouble if he would have given that to me (he spent a really long time in the back after he realized the computer would have let him do it-- he said he had to check becuase he wasn't sure he was allowed).

I don't think it's really fair that they admit they upgraded for some people, but now they aren't (considering the longest time anyone would have left is 4 months on their pass!), but I didn't want to argue because I kind of felt bad for the CMs there (and I only have a week left)-- next to me was this lady who was complaining and trying to get Disney to give her son a new outfit. She insisted there was a tar stain on it that he got at Disney(she was trying to show the CM, who couldn't see it, and I for the life of me couldn't see this stain, and he was practically touching me he was so close). I didn't stick around to see if she got a new outfit for him!

That's too bad - we did this in June at MGM with no problem. In fact, we actually got cash back.

It doesn't seem right to stop the practice now, after all Disney allows other passes to be upgraded by applying the price paid for the original, unused portion of a ticket to a higher value ticket.

I wish DVC would post the official word at the DVC Member website.

It seems that the answer has been yes or no, ever since the DVC Member discounts for APs and PAPs started -- depending on the Guest Services CM.

Does this also mean that we might have trouble upgrading the AP vouchers we were issued as an incentive for an addon to the PAP when we activate them?

Not necessarily - the vouchers work almost like a gift certificate. Technically, you would not be doing an upgrade. You should be able to use your voucher to pay for the PAP. Don't expect a refund though (if the PAP costs less than the voucher).

Best wishes -
