Hello,

Has anyone ever upgraded Magic Your Way Tickets to DVC Annual Passes. We are considering taking advantage of the free dining offer out of pocket(alas, no dvc points for using now) for Sept. and we know that we are staying on DVC points in August 2010. It would be nice to be able to upgrade to AP at the DVC rate.

Anyone know anything, Disney ticketing and DVC membership do not know. They said to ask at a Guest relations desk.

Yes, you can go to Guest Services at any Theme Park or DD and they can upgrade your MYW pass to an AP. You will be credited the value of the MYW pass towards the AP. Be sure to have your DVC membership card with you to get the DVC discount.

There is a great thread on Theme Parks with information about upgrading:
Upgrading to an AP

I currently have an annual pass that expires on Dec. 18. The closest to this dat that we'll be in WDW is Sept. 7. So, can I exchange my MYW 5 day pass and go ahead and pay the renewal price for our AP's in September? If so, would the renewal AP's still begin on Dec.18? Thanks!

I keep hearing people say you can do this yet no one ever mentions the "within 14 days of its first use (MYW tkt)". All the stuff Cheshire Figment posts in his be all/end all ticket thread says you can only upgrade a MYW ticket within the first 14 days.

What's the real deal?

Cheshire Figment is correct. Disney's policy is that upgrades are allowed 14 days after first use of MYW passes - even if the "no expire" feature was purchased.

If the MYW pass is unused, it may still be upgraded, but after 14 days upgrades are not welcomed.

:) That must be why I keep seeing people posting that upgrades are better on your second day at the parks with MYW...they have to have been in use to upgrade, right? The DVC reservation clerk told me it is much easier to upgrade at Guest Relations on your second day at the parks. If you get an AP voucher before that you have to get to a Guest Relation first before you can even enter the parks---they trade the voucher for the actual ticket and it takes extra time doing that when you could already be inside the park enjoying it, right? I have read lots of the info threads and just didn't fill like going there again.:worship:

what if you only have a one day pass....would you enter park and then upgrade? or would it matter? We have free dining that is why we bought one day. (bought into dvc after trip was booked)

AP Renewals may be done 30 days on either side of the expiration date. If done earlier, the new AP won't be valid until the expiration date - if done after it will still have the same expiration date for the new pass. It's not likely you would be able to renew a pass with a December 18 expiration earlier than November 18.

A one day pass really doesn't matter.

I am not the queen of all details upgrading AP's and MYW, BUT from what I understand, IF you buy a MYW ticket from a discounted reseller, you have to use the ticket one day to bump the price up to the regular gate price of the ticket, therefore you will get credit for the gate price, not the price you paid. (Disney 'bridges' the ticket for you and it works out to your advantage this way) If you DO NOT use it before upgrading, you will only get credit for the price Disney sold the ticket to the reseller.

And thanks to Cheshire Figment's :worship::worship: thread on this!! I learned alot about this process from that thread. Can you be at the Guest Relations or Ticket window when I come up in July to buy my AP?? :rotfl: Please? :rotfl2:
