Upgrading from 5 day hoppers

DH and I have a trip planned with a full package. We have 5 day PH with that. Can we upgrade when we get to WDW to an AP? Or would that not work.

Also, I may be going on a trip a couple months before. If I get the AP then, can we still get the DDP or would we have to buy at least the 1 day ticket.

1- Yes.
2- Will work just fine.
3- You can buy one of the Dining Plans if you own an AP.

When you check-in, have the desk clerk or the Concierge remove your "tickets" from your room key-card and issue the tickets on a separate card.

Then, USE the ticket cards to enter a theme park at least once BEFORE you do the upgrade. This will "make the tickets worth" the current gate price.

You can upgrade to AP's at any ticket booth or guest relations at any theme park, water park, TTC, or DTD (but NOT at a resort.)

Is there a reason that the tickets need to be removed from the KTTW card at the resort? I would have thought guest services at the parks could do it when doing the upgrade?

1- Yes.

2- This can cause problems with the dining plan on the tickets.

Yeesh, that seems like a huge flaw in the system. You'd think any office with authority to modify KTTW cards could do so reliably without running that kind of risk. Oh well, we definitely don't want to mess up our ddp so we'll definitely get them split off. One final question, when splitting off the tickets to a seperate card, the ddp credits stay on the KTTW card right? (as opposed to getting transferred with the ticket)
