Can anyone report how much the charges were at the pier to upgrade staterooms on the 7 day cruises? Thanks in advance!

HI Greg,

We also tried to upgrade at the Port...unfortunately there was no availablity...my suggestion is book what you would be content with and then if you wish to upgrade try at the Port..if not possible then you won't be disappointed in not getting the cabin you wanted.

Most sailings on DCL are at near capacity, so the possibility of purchasing an upgrade is not very good on sailing day. Buy the room you want as early as possible. If later on (but before you sail) you want to upgrade check with your TA or DCL to see if you can upgrade then.

Since Disney only has the two ships:boat: :boat: they mostly sail full. Other cruise lines have much larger fleets :boat: :boat: :boat: :boat: :boat: :boat: and therefor they a better possibility of having rooms available on sailing day.

If you do upgrade at the port, do you pay the same difference in price that you would have if you had booked the higher catagory before cruise? Or is there a discount price at the pier?

We just cruised the 7-day on 11/8/03 and did check at the pier about upgrades.

We were booked in 2 category 9's. The only thing they had left were 1 bedroom suites (Cat. 4?). It was going to cost $1500/cabin to upgrade.

We said, "thanks, but no thanks".

I know they had other rooms available because a pipe burst about midnight on Saturday and quite a few rooms on Deck 5 were flooded and those people were moved. At that time, a sign went up at guest services saying Mickey had a full ship and no upgrades were available. However, on Wednesday night, when our tablemate's DH got sick, and was quarantined, she and DD were given an inside room to spend the night. So, a full ship does have some room available for emergencies (thank goodness).
