We're staying at RPR and booked a basic room with the Loew's blue level card. I'm now thinking we might ask to stay Concierge Level at check in. Anyone know the cost difference by chance for June?
You can always ask. The most they can say is no or quote you a price you don't want to pay.
Compute now what the difference in cost is between the room you are paying for and the club level room. You can do this by going online or calling Universal directly. Then, when you get to check-in, you'll be able to determine if it's a good deal.
From what I can remember they will usually upgrade you one step for $35.00 per night. For instance if you are garden view, your upgrade would be pool view, then deluxe, then club etc. This was a few months back and things could have changed now.
Sometimes they will also upgrade you from garden to club for the $35.00. They did this for my sister a few years back, but I suppose as the hotels have become more popular they may have cut back on the upgrades. It would probably depend on when you arrive. For instance, at the start of the week is usually low occupancy and they can upgrade V weekends where the occupancy rates are probably running near full capacity.
Blue LF will not get you an upgrade to club, nor for that matter will gold or platinum. If available, blue will get you an upgrade in your room view when you check in. Expect club upgrade to cost you an additional 50-75/night depending upon how busy the hotel is. Club upgrade may not be available at check in if the hotel and club is very full. The $35 charge is never to club but rather for gold members to upgrade to a suite if available at check in.
