Upgrading AP

Alright, I know I have read in the past that the cost to upgrade from an AP to a PAP is the cost of a PAP minus the cost of an AP, hence the difference. Now, to double check, I called the Passholder Hotline. They said they couldn't tell me the cost because the date you do it may alter the cost. I was told I must go to Guest Services outside the actual Theme Park to find out the cost. Has anyone dealt with this recently? What is the cost? If it is still the difference in cost between the two, is there a way to get it discounted. For example, anyone going to my Disney Wedding down there can get their passes at a discount. Do you think I could apply that to my upgrade? Just looking for opinions since I have to wait until May to find out exactly what Disney has to say about it.

In the past, Disney used to pro-rate AP upgrades to PAP's by dividing the cost difference of the two by the time remaining. Thus if you had 3 months remaining on your AP and the cost difference was $100, you'd pay $25 (1/4 of $100) and your PAP would expire the same day as your original AP did. (Note that prices are ficticious and used for this example only). As another option, they would also allow you to apply the unused amount of time left on your AP (prorated) towards the cost of a brand new PAP that would run for one year from the date of the upgrade. You would be charged the difference between the credit and the cost of the new one.

About two years ago, Disney changed this policy. You will now me charged the entire difference in price between the two (currently $127.82) even if you wanted to do it with one month remaining on your AP.

You may still be able to do the old AP credit towards new PAP upgrade if you wanted to. My guess is that is what the CM on the phone was referring to.

Dicounts offered on wedding packages do not apply to upgrades, only to new tickets purchased.
