Upgrading Annual Passes

I hope someone can help me. I called MS and she was a little unsure in her responses to my AP renewal and upgrade questions.

I will be renewing my DVC AP this month and plan to upgrade to a PAP. What price will I pay - the DVC PAP renewal at $515.46?

Also, I bought my DS14 a DVC AP in January this year. We plan to upgrade that to the DVC PAP this month also. How would that work? I've read two different scenarios:
1. Pay the difference between the AP and the PAP and keep the same expiration date (MS response)
2. Disney refunds what is left pro rated on the AP and use that towards buying a new PAP that would activate this month.

When renewing your AP you can upgrade (or downgrade) and still get the renewal price.

I believe if you upgrade your son's they prorate. So if you have 9 months left you would pay 9/12's of the PAP price and get full credit for what you paid for the original AP. So what MS tells you is what I believe happens

(NOTE: If you upgrade to the Premier there is NO proration and the AP expires when orignally purchased so never do this upgrade late in an AP year!)
