Upgrading an AP?

My family and I are currently So Cal Select AP holders. We did a 5 day stay back in October, so for the most part I believe it's paid for itself already. I think I love Disneyland more than my kids do and have already done a quick trip with just my dad and already planning a solo trip. Because of this, I think I want to upgrade only mine to a Deluxe so I can go on most weekends. Right now, my family is on the monthly payment plan. If I go to the park to upgrade mine, can I pay the full difference then, or would the extra cost just be added to my monthly plan?

You in fact have to pay the entire upgrade amount when you upgrade. You can't add it to monthly payments.

If you do the upgrade on a deluxe block out day, you can ask for a block out pass.

I was told the whole block out pass thing didn't work for upgrades, only new passes. Anyone have info on that?

That is what I was told when I was going to upgrade my daughter during the summer. I asked if she would get it if I upgraded her to a higher pass that was blocked out on that day and they said she couldn't get access that day if I did that. I bought a one day ticket instead.
