Upgrading an AP to Premier

Hi All,

My family are long time visitors to WDW. A little over a year ago, we became DLR fans too. We are planning to take 2 at least 3 day visits with park hopper in 2018. We always purchase Memory Maker and there will be more than 30 days between visits. We are thinking of purchasing WDW platinum plus passes to use so we can be flexible in how we visit. Plus we would love the extra benefits of an AP. Next summer we are going to DLR for at least 5 days and would park hop and would like to use Max Pass. Is it possible to upgrade our WDW Platinum Passes to Premier Passports at DLR? Thanks for the help!

Yeah, you can absolutely upgrade to a Premier. I had a Signature DLR AP and upgraded to premier after I crunched the numbers. Just go to any ticket counter and they can do it. The expiration date will remain the same as the original pass.

You will end up having a pass with 2 numbers on the back-one for DLR and one for WDW. Be prepared that there may be issues with IT connecting them properly. When I upgraded it wasn't showing my WDW pass properly in MDE so I had issues prebooking fastpasses. Thankfully I realized that well in advance of my 60-day mark so contacted Disney IT and they were eventually able to get it figured out. It's not an uncommon occurance as someone else I know had issues with the DLR side and didn't find out until she was trying to enter the parks. It wasn't an easy fix with guest services but they gave her and her husband 3-day tickets (and food vouchers) to use until the pass was fixed.

Unless something has recently changed, the upgrade to Premier AP must be done at a WDW Guest Relations (due to needing a specific kind of computer access).

This hasn't changed. Ticket booths don't have the systems access or the specific cards used for Premier Passports. Guest Relations only.

Sorry, I missed the part of the original post where the poster said they would be doing their upgrade at DLR.
