Upgrading after arriving

If we were to upgrade room type once we have already arrived would it cost a lot more? Would it just be the basic standard hotel rate? No last minute offer etc?

lol! I am still going to ask how much it is and see what they say I wont actually ask but I am happy with what we have just if we could afford a little better I would love to just wouldnt know till the day!
