upgrading 10 day tickets to gold AP?

I was wondering if this is still an option? I am Canadian and because of the Canadian dollar the ticket price is incredibly high for us. But if we buy a 10 day pass through Air Canada vacations it is $511 Canadian. Currently that same pass american is $388 usd which is roughly $562 Canadian. So that is a savings of $50/pp(canadian). We want to get the gold pass because we are going in April and then again in Oct. So is it still possible to buy the tickets through air canada vacations and use them for our first day then upgrade them on the trip to an AP for the price difference between the 10 day Disney pass that day and the gold AP?

Hopefully I am explaining this properly.

I would say yes. We did that with 4 day park hoppers from Undercover tourist in December. After day 1 in the magic kingdom, we headed to Epcot for the evening and before going into epcot we went to the ticket window and upgraded to the Gold pass with DVC discount. Make sure YOU do the math ahead of time. I did receive FULL gate price for our 4 day tickets even though we paid $29 less through UT. I knew EXACTLY what I was supposed to pay and at first I was given a higher amount. I told her that can't be right and she had another CM come over and help her out. After that she got it right. Make sure you know what the full gate value of the ticket should be....in US dollars, and then what the difference in the upgrade should be.

do your math for both. I got over charged by $263 and had to get ms involved with getting my refund. called ticketing and they said they couldnt do it. emailed and got a response two weeks later that they were going to refund me

Perfect thanks! I ordered the tickets tonight. I plan to be prepared with knowing the price difference so I don't get overcharged.

Do you mind helping me with my math? Sorry to hijack this thread but wanted to see if I'm doing my calculations correctly:

A 5 day non park hopper is $315 before tax. The gold ap is $549. So $549-$315=$234.

Then $234 plus 6.5% tax is $249.21 if one were to upgrade from a 5 day adult non hopper....

You have to take the $549 with the tax, and then subtract the $315+tax. If you order the 5 day first you have to pay the tax.... And when you buy the AP you will be charged tax. I used UT as their tax is already included in the price. I bought the ticket that gave the greatest discount over gate price. For me that was the 4day park hopper.

So if I bought my ticket from UT I will be credited what I paid for that ticket or the gate price?

So... 5 day non hopper is $335.48 with tax (I paid $290.95, I think, with the Amex $30 statement credit deal in December).

Gold annual pass is $549 plus tax or $584.65.

$584.65-$335.48 = $249.20. There's only a 1c difference ;).

I'll be paying for the AP difference using Disney gift cards, with 7% average discount. I end up paying $522 for the annual pass vs $584. Yah!
