I'm taking my niece to MK this weekend. My brother wants to know if a one-park, one-day ticket can be upgraded to an annual pass at a later date (within a week). I told him that I didn't think so, but I'd ask on the boards. I was pretty sure that someone on here would know for sure!

TIA :)

One day one park tickets can be applied towards the purchase of an AP but it can only be done before the close of business on the day that the ticket is used. Once that day has ended, you are not able to apply that one day pass to anything but your memories scrapbook page. ;)

Yes, you have 1 week from date of purchase to apply the cost of a 1 day ticket towards an AP.

You have forever to apply the cost of the pass as long as it is not used. If used, as Golden Oldie said, you have to use it for the upgrade by the end of that business day.

One day tickets are different than hoppers.

The way Disney handles this can be confusing. The cardinal rule that they will not make any exceptions to no matter what the ticket media involved may be is this:

No ticket can be upgraded after the final day of admissions has been used up and the close of business for that day has passed.

Keeping that in mind, you would under normal circumstances have seven days from first use of a multiday park hopper (or PHP) to apply the full value to an upgrade. But - and it's a very important "but" - say you only had a four day park hopper and you used it on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You cannot go back to Guest Relations on Saturday and have the ticket upgraded. You would have had to do that prior to the close of business on that Thursday.

That same principal holds true for any admission ticket including one day tickets. The ticket must still have remaining admissions (which would count the admission used the day you do the upgrade) in order for it to carry any dollar value towards the upgrade.

The seven days from first use does not apply in cases where all admissions were used up prior to the seventh day.

Hope that helps explain it a little better.

I can't seem t get my head around this situation:

If you have a 4-day PHP and have used 3 of them within the "7 day window" and you want to upgrade to a 5-day PHP, how much do you have to pay & how many extra days do you then get?

What is the advantage of upgrading within the "7 day window"?

You get the full price of your pass credited towards another pass.
If you wait past the 7 days you only get what remains on your pass as a credit.

For a better explaination, you will need to wait for GoldenOldie to answer or go to this site: http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#9

Thanks, I kind of get it now, except for...

...if I have a 4-day PHP and within the 7 days I have used the PLUS option, am I allowed to upgrade to a regular (one which does NOT have plus options) 5-day pass or am i forced to upgrade to a PHP?

Then how come on one of my visits I asked the guy at the TTC window "How long do I have to apply the cost of this ticket to an AP or SP if I wanted to?" to which he replied 7 days with no mention of it being "unused".

Perhaps he was wrong. It does happen.

More than likely he didn't know (or remember) that not all tickets have that 7 day window. The general rule for <u>most</u> tickets is within 7 days of first use but there are exceptions. The one day ticket is one of those exceptions.

When a plus option is used such as you describe, then it comes under the same rule of upgrading that would cover upgrading to something such as an AP/PAP. If you use any plus option prior to doing an upgrade, you will be required to upgrade to a ticket that also has plus admissions.

Example: You have a 5 day PHP and you use one plus option only before deciding to upgrade to an AP. You will only be able to apply that 5 day to a PHP, not an AP.

In your case, using that one option on a 4 day PHP means you would not be able to get a a plain PH. You'd have to get a PHP.

Disney is not so generous that they will give you the use of a "free" admission to a water park, PI or WWoS, let you use it and then upgrade it to a ticket that doesn't allow use of those things. Word would have travelled really quickly about a loophole like that if that were the case.

Thanks GoldenOldie, I now think I understand this 100%. Shame Disney hasn't left any loopholes open :p
