Upgrading 1 day MYW to AP?

I was planning to upgrade my 1 day MYW base ticket to an AP this weekend. I've read a lot of accounts of people doing this and found this on allearsnet.com:

"I have heard that I can upgrade my MYW ticket to an AP or PAP and get full credit for the original purchase price even after I have used a few days admission. Is this true?

Yes it is. If you decide that you want to upgrade it to an AP/PAP, you will get full credit for the price of the ticket towards the AP/PAP. Expiring MYW tickets must be upgraded within 14 days of first use. MYW tickets with the no expiration option on them can me upgraded at any time. In all cases, the AP/PAP will be backdated to the date the hopper pass was first used. Tickets purchased prior to MYW tickets can still be upgraded but must be completely unused to do so. But beware: If you get a MYW ticket with the Water Park Fun & More option and use one of the WPF&M admissions before doing this, you will only be allowed to upgrade to a PAP."

I just read a thread on the Dining Plan board that a person wasn't allowed to do this.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to upgrade my ticket to an AP. The account on the other thread doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me between what I have read here and allearsnet.com.

The problem is that the OP was on a MYW plan with free dining. AP holders are not eligible for free dining.

That has nothing to do with it. AP holders can't get a room discount and dining but we are able to get free dining if we buy a ticket with the package like everyone else.

We were there at the end of August and had no trouble upgrading our passes. We had a total of 4, 1 day passes and needed to get 2 AP's (DH and I already had ours). We were easily able to do the exchange. They actually let us use the 4 tickets towards the credit (some will do that some will not. We had some pixie dust that day.)

Actually we ended up using out DVC discount plus the 4-1 day passes so we were able to get 2 AP's for like $335. Not a bad deal!

We have free dining, but I don't see how that applies to upgrading. To qualify for free dining, you needed to buy a min. 3 day package. A package must include a ticket, but I don't see how it would preclude you from upgrading to an AP.

I'm happy to see that others didn't experience the problems that the OP on the other thread did.

I am not saying it would preclude you....I am saying that the dining portion of the ressie was the reason for the concern (as explained to us by the CM). Not saying this is accurate or not... just the explanation we were given.
