I'm totally confused as to what to do with regards to upgrades.

As much as I love the Cheyenne, we've been there twice and I had said before if the opportunity arose to try a different on site hotel for a good price I would!

We currently have the Cheyenne booked for 4 nights at £568. The amount due soon is just shy of £500.

I could upgrade to the Sequoia for an additional £80 but with the big payment due soon already £80 is adding to an already strained budget!

Or... I could upgrade to the NPB but change it to 3 nights (can you upgrade but deduct nights?!) from mon-thurs. This would only cost me £20 more and I can find a hotel nearby for the first night. As much as I usually love the first run into the parks on day 1 we are going to have had a 7 hour drive there so may just be ready to crash out! (after Sunday brunch at the Steakhouse!!)

Or... (sorry I'm thinking as I type!) 3 nights from Sun-Weds and book a nearby hotel for the last night instead. We have planned to do a day trip to Paris on the Wednesday, if we didn't use our park tickets that day could we still use them on Thursday instead?

Sorry, I'm aware I'm making this very complicated for myself! lol.

Well I upgraded to the SQL from the SF but I only had to pay €40 so about £33.

£80 Id considerably more but the sequoia lodge is a lovely hotel!

I think it depends when you are going, how much time you would be spending in the room, if you wanted and would go to the pool ..these sort of things.

I'd love to try the SL but if my budget was tight I'd be staying with what I had especially if I liked it.

I wouldn't be moving hotels, deducting nights and going off site just to stay in another hotel ad having to pay more - Also being honest the NPB doesn't appeal, it's too vast and those corridors make me think of The Shining :lmao:

I think it's because we booked on a really good deal anyway! I think I am swayed to the SL rather than the NPB anyway. Decisions decisions!

Yeah I can see what you mean, if it was the NY I think the hassle of moving would make it worth it (for me anyway!). I really like the look of the NPB but the size does put me off, especially with two little ones!

The other half isn't keen to change now anyway due to the Cheyenne having bunk beds (easier with the kids) Party pooper!!

But... I really want to stay at the Sequoia!

We're staying during June half term so if it's busy/hot we probably put the pool to use.

I think we shall pay the balance for now and maybe if the price is still the same for the Sequoia come April pay day (doubtful but never know!) then we might upgrade then.

If it helps any, you can use the other hotels amenities if you ask at reception I believe? I know when we stayed at Sequoia, we asked and were given a special pass to use the Newport Bay pool if we wanted, ultimately we just used Sequoia's though, dunno if that applies to people staying in the budget hotels too though?

I'ld say stick with Cheyanne, and at the very least take a little time this trip to explore Sequoia, NPB and NY and see how you take to the place, then maybe you can work on winning the other half over for next trip? The bunk beds may be a sticking point with the kids though heh.

AFAIK you cannot use the amenities of other hotels such as the swimming pool. You pay extra to have a pool. There is no way you could book at say the SF and then use the pool at the NPB... Wouldn't make sense.

On our last trip though we stayed in the SQL and could have used the NPB or HNY pool as ours unexpectedly closed.

I think I'd stick with the Cheyenne - and use the £80 towards nice meals or other spends. It took until our 3rd trip until we found the time to go swimming!! :rotfl:

This is how I understood it too - I thought this was the only exception for when you could use one of the other pools.
