Upgrades, Underwear and Upside Down Fun -5/7 King Louie totally ROCKS!

OK, I've never done anything quite like this before. But in between rearranging the house for new furniture, and cleaning for guests, I made Ally's bday cake. It's a "pop star" party tomorrow, and she wanted a light blue guitar cake.....

Wow! Great cake! I'm impressed! I'm looking forward to reading about your experience at Sci-Fi.

We got back to Sci Fi right when they opened at 11am for lunch.

I was very surprised that the restaurant did not fill up more during our meal, but even when we left, it was very empty inside. I guess I’m not THAT surprised, considering this is a table service meal, serving counter service fare.

Very fun atmosphere, kept us all entertained during our meal, but I was very disappointed in the seating arrangements. Even though I knew how it was set up, it still came as a shock that I had to sit BEHIND Jeff and Ally. Of course Jeff thought it was funny, “Let’s stick Mommy in the backseat.” I’m sure if there had been trunk seating, that’s where I’d have ended up!

For lunch it worked out fine, since we all had sandwiches, but I can’t imagine eating a steak at this mini table I had. Very limited table surface, so I was kinda glad I had a row to myself so I could spread out.

DHS-SciFi7.jpg

Ally, "slumming it" in the backseat with me....

DHS-SciFi9.jpg

Jeff ordered The Reuben and was pleasantly surprised. He said it was actually a very good reuben – him being the reuben connoisseur and all…..

DHS-SciFiReuben.jpg

I got the Smoked Turkey Sandwich and was actually disappointed. I mean, it was basically a club sandwich, right? Nope. Very dry and bland. Oh, well, live and learn, I guess.

DHS-SciFiTurkey.jpg

Ally got the Beef and Macaroni and thought it was the greatest thing ever! Luckily she’s not a very picky eater, but she was all about the Chef Boyardee gourmet meal she had! Of course, I guess I should have known – she is a bigtime critic about grilled cheese sandwiches, too….

Ally and I split an oreo milkshake which was a perfect decision. It meant that I didn’t gorge myself, and she didn’t wear more than she needed to. The server split it before bringing to us which was a nice touch. Saved me the mess which I know I would have made. This shake was great! Jeff thinks it was made with soft serve, so he gave it a thumbs down, but me being the hillbilly redneck foodie really liked it!

Jeff got a chocolate shake and did NOT offer to share with anyone, so it couldn’t have been that bad, huh?

I would probably eat lunch here again just for the atmosphere. I wanted to get a burger but we had plans to eat at Beaches n Cream for dinner so I didn’t want to eat cheeseburger-cheeseburger in one day. Cause then I would have repeated “cheeseburger-cheeseburger” all day long. And the family would not have appreciated that.

If I had been on the dining plan, I would have felt cheated, but paying out of pocket WITH the new handy dandy Tables in Wonderland card, it was a nice experience, and since it wasn’t crowded at all, it was very relaxing. Well, as relaxing as can be with Godzilla’s Second Cousin Once Removed Meets The Two Headed Garbage Collector playing on the big screen.

After lunch we went back to TOT to check the wait time. Still showing 40 minutes, so we grabbed fast passes for an hour later. Then we got in line.

DHS-View4TOT.jpg

15 minutes later we were dropping and screaming and shooting up and out, and screaming some more. I love this ride. It has to be one of the best themed rides in all of Disney. And if you catch the CMs on a good day, they are sooooo in character! Seriously, sometimes I wonder if one of them is going to cut the cables just to make it more realistic. They can be THAT into character.

Ally has ridden this since she was 5 years old (take that all you ToT chickens out there!) and she just laughs the whole way through! It’s so much fun to ride with her. Of course, she makes us all look bad because she will sometimes be the only one the photo with her hands up! Little daredevil!

After ToT we went back to TSM and it was down for repairs. Well, I was not down with that, but Ally was down with some pin trading while we waited.

DHS-PinTrading1.jpg

Of course, the CMs were not down with giving us an estimate, so we were now just down. Cause we wanted to get over to Epcot and it’s now closing in on 1pm.

So we decided to forego TSM this trip and head to Epcot. Cause I was totally down with experiencing some adult libations in World Showcase.

But first I had to snap this....

DHS-Woodytoys.jpg

and holler to Jeff, "Look at all those cute little Woodys!" He was NOT down with that, as all heads turned in our direction..... :rotfl2:

OK, now I’ll tone it….. wait for it…… DOWN!

Ya know what I love about Disney? Yes, that! Oh, that, too! Oh, I’d almost forgotten that – yes, love it too!

But I really love the looks on peoples’ faces when you spread the pixie dust. As we were leaving, we had in our possession, 3 FPs for ToT and 2 FPs for TSM. Jeff wanted to find a nice family of three to give the TSM FPs to. It had to be a family of three.

So we stood by the front gates watching people come in until he found just the right family. It was a grandma and grandpa with one child. They were tickled pink. Or they might have been tickled green if we’d accidentally given them the ToT FPs.

Then we found three young high school girls to give the ToT FPs to. They were also very appreciative, and we felt like we’d spread the Disney spirit. After all, we’d had so much pixie dust dumped on us this trip, that it was starting to weigh us down. We needed to pay it forward.

We left HS doing just about everything we came to do this day, and we did it all in about 4 hours, including an hour for lunch.

It’s turned into a Chamber of Commerce day, not a cloud in the sky, temperature about 80 degrees, no humidity, and the boat has just pulled up to the launch to take us to Epcot.

Ahhhh, life is good.

Weird stuff. See? I haven't seen that there have been any new posts on your TR! I'll have to go check it out.....

OK, guys, I need help - my sis has been on the DIS for awhile but she can't post! Someone in tech said that she needed to activate her account but she has yet to receive an email - so they sent her another one, she activated and STILL can't post. I'm sure she wants to make some sarcastic comments on my TR, so maybe I should be glad she can't post? :rotfl2:

And if she ever does, just remember, I was always the favorite daughter, so she's just bitter! ;)

OK, so my sis read my last post and if she ever DOES get her account fixed, I'm in deep doo doo! :rotfl2:

Heading to Ohio this weekend but I'll try to post from there. After all, I'll need to escape from the family every so often! :rotfl: What do they say about the similarities between fish and family? The both start to stink after 3 days???? ;) And I just did the taillight dance as the inlaws pulled out of our driveway this morning. So I totally understand that expression.

Hi Kara! :wave2: Loved those photos from Sci-Fi. We are excited about having lunch there on our first day of our upcoming trip. I'm going to have to chime in and join Jeff and Pods on being a fellow connisseur of all things Reuben as well!! :lmao: Looking at the menu on allearsnet, I was thinking I would order either the ribs or the reuben. Guess I know which one!! :thumbsup2

Alan

The FAVORITE daughter, huh??? Maybe that is true, since I am the pretty, talented, nice, considerate, thoughtful, fun daughter!!!:rotfl:

Well, I won't be too hard on you, since you are free room and board whenever we come to Disney!!:thumbsup2

My first post...:woohoo:and I am obviously have waaaayy too much fun with the smileys.

It's a good thing you work from home, KJ, or the things I could say while you were here in OH, in the 40 degree weather...(what was she thinking coming here for spring break?!?) The KJ is for Kara Jean, her first and middle name. I don't think I have ever called her Kara.

I have to admit, I have been a DL for some time now...a Disney Lurker. It's really kind of creepy. I have read all these posts and my sister tells me about all of you, I almost feel like I already know you!

Glad to finally be on!!!:yay:

Uh oh! <gulp> I think I'm busted! :rolleyes1

Just got in to my p's house in Ohio - 60 degrees today but gonna SNOW tomorrow!!!! Who travels north for spring break????

I'll be back tonight or tomorrow with an update - I'll need to escape from the family for awhile! :rotfl2:

Kara -

I have just read your entire report today and absolutely love it! God you are soooooo funny. All your quirky remarks just have me rolling with laughter :rotfl:.

I wish I had the ability to be funny like you and some of the others that post on the boards but I'm no quick witted, fly by the seat of my pants type of gal. I always think of something funny after the fact.

So, keep up the great reports! I can't wait for more! :yay:

Yeah, thanx for posting THAT! Now everyone is really gonna appreciate all the redneck jokes even more - tell me Kara Jean doesn't sound like I'm a one toothed wonder! Especially when you throw in the accent. C'mon, you know you're doing it. Get twangin with it! Which is why I go by KJ or Kara. :rolleyes1

Thank you! And thank you for reading! It's a lot more fun writing if I know that people appreciate the crazy way I view life. And Jeff and I are totally that way in "real" life with the quirky remarks. I was going to take a sarcasm test on facebook the other day but I'm afraid that my computer will blow up because I might score off the charts. Sarcasm is my middle name. Well, actually it's Jean, as my loving sister just mentioned above...... But if I ever changed my name, I think it would be Sarcasm.
