upgrades for a honeymoon??

I was just wondering if anyone has gotten any kind of upgrades at Disney when they went for their honeymoon? I will be going for a mini-honeymoon (5 days) to OKW at the end of August and was wondering if I should mention the special occasion or it wasn't worth my time??

It does not hurt to mention it. I am assuming a free upgrade???

Upgrades work this way. If the rooms are available, meaning guests that pay for the upgraded room, they may upgrade you a category. If they are booked then you will get what you paid for.

If you are staying on points, it would be an extremely long shot to get any sort of upgrade. Upgrades on points are rare and far between.

However, if you are paying cash, you might get an upgrade if one was available.

Upgrade, doubtful. However, a pretty bouquet of flowers or some similar recognition of your special event is quite possible.

As mentioned...if you're asking about a pts upgrade I would totally give up on that idea as it's usually only known to happen on pts on rare occassions when something has happened to the room to take it out of comission due to maintenance problems and such.

As for cash upgrades....if you go into it being happy with what you've already booked and happen to luck out then great If you'll be devestated if you don't get an upgrade then I'd book what you want from the get go.

FWIW, We honeymooned at the GF for the first 2 nights and then moved over to POR (then Dixie landings) for the next week and had booked just a standard garden view and when they found out we were on our honeymoon, they upgraded us to a suite! To this day it is still one of the most awesome stays we've had I don't know if it was dumb luck,the time of year and how booked (or empty) the resort was at the time, or what but we totally lucked out.

Just make sure that you'll be happy with the accommodations you do book and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised That was the trip we ended up buying into DVC too...congrats and pixie dust to you

We stayed at OKW on our honeymoon. We did not put it on our reservation. While checking in we mentioned we had just gotten married that morning while talking about my name being wrong on my membership card. The next evening when we returned to our room, there was a basket with champagne, champagne glasses and strawberries along with a nice card. A very nice surprise!

But the magic isn't dependable. We went for our honeymoon. Made notations on the room, on reservations, and nothing. Not disappointed, because I wasn't counting on it.
