WOW...ok I only booked yesterday as cat 11 GTY....checked ressies online just now and got Cat 8 stateroom 6500. ANyone ever been here before??? It is a Handicapped room , how does that make a difference? We are so excited!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

The handicap rooms are very large compared to the others but if you have a small child that does not like to shower they are not great since they only have a shower head and a shower seat if you want to sit while showering. There is nothing on the bathroom floor to step over to use the shower, it is level with the rest of the room so it is handicapped accessible. The bathroom is also very large and the closet is big enough for a wheelchair to get into and use.

We are going on the Aug 17th 4 day.....23 days to go!!!!!!! It is just my husband and myself the kiddies are staying with Gradma for this trip....our Annv. I am so excited. It was a lst minute descion, wee were going next year. Change that now we get to go this year!!!!! Thanks for the info.

Congrats on your upgrade! But I'd be sad :( because I always bring bubble bath with me to relax in the tub! It's one of my favorite things to do!

We had the same upgrade in January and were in room 6000, which is the identical room on the other side of the ship. We loved it. You are at the very end of the hall, so it is very quiet. The room is spacious without loosing the charm of regular rooms. We loved the forward location because of easy and uncrouded access to the adult areas (pool, spa, etc.) Even though it is at the oppisite end of the ship from most food, we enjoyed going down to the third or 4th floor and walking through the ship to meals. The only negative (very minor) was that the room does not have a sofa, but has one chair in its place. So one of us sat on the chair and the other on the bed. Also, when we first arrived, there was a slight sewer gas smell. The bathroom has a completely flat floor and there are two sets of grated drains. One rings the shower area, and a second is under the door to the bathroom to keep any water on the floor from going into the main room. That second drain does not get much water in it and the trap can dry out. So make sure each day you pour some water down that drain to keep the trap full.

Thank you for the great room discription. We are so excited. Since you said there is only 1 chair....do you think our room HOst could bring an extra...even if it is a deck chair? Or would I be oversteping if I asked that? Thanks

I would certainly ask for one. I didn't mention in my reply that we also used the small padded stool type seat that goes with the dresser/desk area. There certainly is room for another chair. It was such a minor inconvienence that we never bothered to ask.

One other thing I didn't mention - if you have a photo or brochure showing the forward exterior part of the ship, you will see one porthole on the sixth deck sitting well out in front of any of the others - that is your room! Everywhere you go you will be the first to get there!! Unless they back into the dock - then you will be last to arrive!

Izzi...

Did you have a problem at all with to much feeling the motion of the boat. I do not think we will get seasick but just heard that it is more likly in the front of the boat. Thanks

Out of six cruises, we have had two with rooms forward and the rest aft. We had no problems with the forward location either time. I actually think the ship motion feels great most of the time. Obviously, the motion depends on the seas, and if it is bad, it will be bad everywhere. The wildest we have ever encountered were 12-15 feet seas out of St Thomas, and we were way aft and felt it rock. It wasn't the motion that bothered us - it was all the noise in the cabin from the wood furnishings creaking that kept us awake. Even then, we did not feel sea sick.

We stayed in room 6000 two yrs ago and absolutely loved it! What you will really like is the width of the room. It doesn't look like a long narrow closet at all! Plenty of space and the 'feeling' of spaciousness not in the 'normal' rooms. I envy you!!!!!!!

I was bumped to room 6000 as well. Here's a picture of the room.

Curious if it's just the 2 of you traveling? I noticed that 6000 was really only comfortable for 2, though you could put a roll-away bed in there but it would become rather crowded then.

I'm thinking the upgrade might've come due to Disney selling your old room to a family of 3 or 4.

We were in 6500 on our first cruise last February and we loved it!! We also got upgraded from a Cat 11 GTY, and I think it was because it is just a room for 2 people. It's the 1st room all the way forward, yet we felt hardly any motion at all. We felt more motion while we were in the restaurants. The room is very large, as is the bathroom. We liked the idea of no sofa, because that would have taken up more space. The porthole is great, and we could always pick out our room when we were outside the ship. Close to the adult areas, and the elevators weren't busy at all. I think you got a real gem! We hope to get upgraded to something like that again, when we go on our 4-day in Sept.

I think you'll love it!

I am so excited about this trip. Thanks for all the help with the room. Now If I could only decide what to pack . :p

Just curious. What kind of rates are available for a last minute cat 11 gty? Are they cheaper or more expensive than early booking?

I am not sure what the difference is but for 2 adults we just paid just over $1300 for cat 11 including ins. I do not know what it would be for early booking. I did just check and it seems that Aug 17 if sold out. Glad I booked when I did .

Sorry if this was mentioned already...but is your cruise the 3, 4 or 7 day one for that rate?

MJ
