Hi All,

We have never stayed on a concierge floor before in any hotel and we just upgraded at the AKL. We are what I would call steak and potatoes type of people. Will we feel out of place? We stayed at the AKL in pool view rooms twice before and just love this resort. We are all booked for the Sunrise Safari on Feb 4th. Looking for all of the info that people are willing to share the good and the bad.

You won't feel out of place at all:D We were only there for one night and I found nothing stuffy about the place. I really enjoy the AKL and am looking forward to another stay in January. I enjoyed just hanging out at the resort; there is so much to do. What I like about hanging out at the resort is if you are staying in concierge they have different food offerings throughout the day and the lounge is a nice place to sit back and relax (although there are many places in the resort to relax. You might want to do a search and read some reports on what others had to say about staying in concierge. Have a great trip:D

We just got back from our stay at AKL and are very glad that we didn't upgrade to even a savannah view, since there were NO animals to be found on the property.

But even without seeing animals at the lodge, this a a great hotel and we had the perfect time. We stayed in a standard view room and actaully the view wasn't bad, rooms 5027 and 5029.

The extras that the resort provides like cookie decorating, bird feeding wasn't a bit hit but I believe it was because the crowd at the resort was small. There were several times we went down to one of the activities and no one from the resort was there. Once we asked about the activitiy and if if was going to happen, they would send someone down.

Hope you have a great trip.

Wow!! jbethke. No animanls? Were all of the savannas open? Usually in the mornings they are all out and eating and then again in the mid to late afternoon into the night. We have had pool view rooms the last two times that we stayed at the AKL and we have always seen tons of animals from the Sunset Savanna overlook lounge, the Arusha Rock viewing area and the Uzima overlook viewing area by the pool. We also walked all the different trails throughout the resort at different times of the day and found all of the different viewing areas.

I am sorry that you did not get to see any animals at the resort. You must have had some bad timing. How long were you at the resort for?

We were only at the resort for 3 days and the only times we went to view the animals was the day we checked in on Sunday, around 10am and spent most of that day walking around the resorts trying to find the animals. We then again late at night when we got back from the parks between 7-9pm and still could find no animals and we did stop at several of the different viewing areas.

Guess we just had back luck trying to see animals at AKL but it still was a great trip and a great hotel.

There were animals outside our balcony just about every time we looked.

I had read many time that people thought AKL concierge was one of the better ones. It is the only one we ever stayed in. We thought it was great. There was all kinds of interesting food and snacks all the time. There were some good juices and things also. Over looking the AKL lobby is almost worth it all by itself.

We will definitely visit again, hopefully without the kid next time.

Yeah, I'm pumped, 'cause we're going the concierge route over New Year's. I think it's gonna be fun being pampered.

When we're back, I'll try to do a report that gives the lowdown and dirty. Since we're going at the busiest time of the year, I'm interested in seeing how we manage.

No info to share, but we'll be on the Sunrise Safari on 2/4 also! Yesterday Anne from the Concierge staff left a message on my voice mail at home, wanting to know if they could help with our planning!

We've never staying concierge level at any hotel. I can't wait!:bounce:

I will have my lime green ribbon on my waistpack. We have never stayed concierge level either so we are looking forward to this trip.

We stayed AKL concierge over Thanksgiving, and I absolutely loved it! The service was impeccable from bellhop to concierge CM. I felt very pampered even though we had two kids with us. I already miss the coffee machine -- it makes cappuccino, espresso and latte. I liked the cappuccino the best. There's a tv with Disney movies playing for the kids, and the furniture is comfy. You could definitely make a meal out of the appetizers that are served from 5-7pm. They were delicious.

Our room was exactly what I requested -- Arush savanna, zebra trail, 5th floor. I'd read that the 6th floor rooms did not have as good of views. We saw several animals, and I enjoyed the peacefulness of our room.

When the concierge CM called me in advance to see if we needed anything, I asked her to make a PS at a restaurant and she also entered into the computer the PSs I'd already made so that I received a printout of all our PSs on one page when we arrived.

To sum it up: great service, great food, great view!

P.S. I just need to figure out how to remove the countdown.:D

Thats for the report Fridye. I do love cappuccino so this coffee machine sounds like a great thing.

To remove you countdown just go to your user profile and highlight the code and then delete and the code will disappear and so will the countdown from your signature.

Hi Tiffany:

We'll be the two 40-somethings pretending to be kids again... :p

We will keep an eye out for you guys Sharon. We are a 40 something husband and a 30 something wife that never had a nest and is not planning on making one. We like our empty nest.

:D

Tiffany, I hope you enjoy your AKL concierge stay. The AKL is my favorite resort and it has my favorite concierge. Make sure you spend a little time in the Kilimanjaro Club, the concierge lounge. It has my favorite drink -- an African smoothie. Yum! And try to get to know the concierge Cast Members. They are all so nice. Have a magical stay there.

By the way, the following was taken directly from the official WDW website in regards to the Animal Kingdom Lodge:

Concierge Service:

Some rooms offer concierge service which includes curbside check-in, robes, make-up mirror, turndown service, and lounge with continental breakfast, midday snacks, evening beverages, wine and hors d'oeuvres.

You're going to love turndown service in the evening (I know that I do). Not to spoil the surprise, but here is one of my photos of it at the AKL: click here to view it.

Hi Janet2K,

I cannot get the link to work. I click on it and I get the "site not responding" error message.
