Upgraded? From What To What?

i wonder if they will call me and say hey, we paid off your balance, that would be working the pixie dust,

We had two connecting category 6 rooms for our Sept 2002 cruise - DCL called a month before to tell us we had both been upgraded to connecting category 4 rooms. My poor husband answered the phone and as soon as I heard the word upgrade come out of his mouth I ripped the phone away from him so I could speak to the representative myself!!! :rotfl2:

So for those who've gotton upgraded - did you book a GTY category? We booked Category 9 and already have our room #'s 14 months in advance. Now I'm thinking I should've booked GTY.

Hi ! We booked over a year ago and had our room numbers, too. A few days after making our final payment, the AAA TA called with the news.

Good to know. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed then! If not, I'll still be happy - after all I'll be on a Disney Cruise!

we were upgraded on our last 2 cruises from a cat 9 to a cat 5....

Last cruise was booked on the 4 night Wonder exactly 60 days in advance (long story as to why the comparatively late booking, compared to the next cruise which was booked in '03) as a cat. 8 GTY. Then got a Cat. 8 stateroom # within a few days. Then 30 days out from embarkation got an email and voicemail confirming an upgrade from 8 to a 5, albeit a solid wall cat. 5, #7132. Doc's came with the cat. 8 stateroom #, but just crossed that out and wrote in the cat. 5 room with a marker on the luggage tags. And the bon voyage champagne package I had ordered was indeed in our cat. 5 stateroom waiting for us when we walked in at 1:30, as soon as the corridor was opened to guests. The january sailing date may have decreased demand enough to have allowed the upgrade.

We had never had a verandah on any previous cruises, so it was nice to sample w/o paying the premium price, but we did not like the solid wall and agreed that we would not pay for a solid wall verandah (and that would include a cat. 7, naturally, except for the couple of plexiglass rooms recategorized as 7's. We're in our usual 8 in a week and a half, and I do not expect any upgrading, this being a popular spring break week.
