We are about to sail, barring problems with the tropical storms, on our 4th Disney cruise. We were just informed last Thursday that we were upgraded from a Cat 4 to a Cat 3! Way, way excited here.

We booked our trip back in June of 2003 and were originally scheduled to sail in February, then we had to move it to May and finally to September. I'm not sure the timing of booking has much to do with it. I think it has more to do with what they want to open up on the ship for a particular sailing. We were shocked to find out a suite was availble, but with all of the weather related problems of late, perhaps there have been some cancellations and DCL wanted to free up more of the better priced cabins by moving people up to higher, less likely to be sold at the last minute staterooms. Whatever the reason, we're one excited family.

Our TA called us on Thursday to say she had our docs, but that she had received a call from DCL regading the upgrade. Our docs still reflect our original category.

We are now even more eager to get on board the Magic once again!

We booked in early August for our cruise coming up on the 23rd. We were booked for a guarentee category 7 and got bumped to a cat 4. We are pretty excited! This is our first time cruising. We found out when we got our documents.

We booked in June or July of 1997 for an August 1998 Land/Sea package. This was a 3 day cruise on the magic and booked over a year before the Magic even began sailing. We booked a category 12 with Dixie Landings for the land portion. This was for our honeymoon but since the inaugural sailing kept getting postponed we paid more attention to if/when the ship was sailing. I guess we didn't pay enough attention and we went straight to the wrong room. A room attendant came in and told us that no one was in the room. We went back to the front desk and found out our correct room number. We were upgraded to a category 9 room and with a little help our luggage eventually found the new room too.

We went from a cat 11 to a cat 9 on our cruise this past July.

Upgraded from a Cat. 6 to a Cat 4 in May. I booked our cruise 15 months in advance.

We cruised on the Magic the first week of March, 2004 and were upgraded from category 9 or 10 to category 6 (I think--we had a regular verandah on Deck 7) We booked only about 3 months in advance for specific connecting rooms and found out about the upgrade when our docs arrived and had different room numbers. We think we got the upgrade because the cabin directly next to ours (on Deck 7) was undergoing renovation and it was quite noisy. We figure that they didn't want someone who actually paid for that category to have to put up with noise and that someone who was upgraded wouldn't complain. They were right!!! We enjoyed the verandah very much but probably wouldn't pay extra for it.;)

Feb 2002, booked two GTY Cat 11's about six weeks before cruise (4 day) for 5 people. Got bumped to two Cat 4's.

Oct 2002, booked two Cat 11's about 4 months out on a special. Everyone who cruised a four day in Feb 2002 got a return 3 day certificate for $99. We got bumped to two Cat 9's.

Oct 2004, booked two Cat 10's about 10 months ago and we're cruisin in two cat 10's.

Hey, two out of three isn't bad. We've been very lucky and are blessed to be on the Magic this time.

HAY, YOU NEVER KNOW, YOU MIGHT BE UPGRADED IN OCT WHEN YOU GET TO THE PORT.

"NEVER SAY NEVER" LOL

For our November 4, 2004 trip we were upgraded for the first time!

We booked it once you could book it so I think it was January 2003.

Then we paid it off September 2003.

We found out we were upraded from a Category 8 to a Category 5 back in March of this year!!!

We had cabin 7014 and now we have 7034!

We are very very happy!:teeth:

So, even if you have been assigned a cabin it is possible to be upgraded?

Also, we have two cabins booked but they have two ressie numbers. If one gets upgraded what are the odds of the other one getting upgraded as well?

We were upgraded from a Guaranteed Cat. 11 to a 10....

Has everyone ever been assigned adjoining rooms and received and upgrade ? I would imagine they don't upgrade if you request adjoining rooms. Anyone?

HI DEANNE711

WHEN DID YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS?

DID YOU GET A ROOM WITH A PORT HOLE?

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UPGRADE

Our rooms were connecting and we were upraded from connecting Deluxe outside on Deck 2 to connecting verandah cabins on Deck 7. I can never remember the categories! LOL

If anyone from DCL is reading this, I'd love an upgrade from a cat.6 to a cat.2 I really, really want this, and I know Disney wants to make it's guests HAPPY!:thewave: :cheer2:  I love Disney!
