Upgraded at the Poly! OMG!!!

Can you describe the accessible bathroom a bit? Those are new. And is there a doorplate for exiting the room. Does the door open automatically when you use your key? TIA.

The room door did not open automatically when the room key was swiped. There was a button to press to open the door, but it was not functioning. I think they are still tweaking some things in these rooms. There was an automatic fan that triggers as you enter the bathroom, but the lights are still switch controlled.

For anyone using any sort of EVC or motorized chair, do not plug it in for recharging along the wall beneath the picture of the kids on the beach because it's wired with the bed lamps and when you turn off the switch, the charging ends. So, please use one of the many outlets on the desk or elsewhere to charge your chair/scooter.

The room location was great. The shower had the usual hand rails and a sturdy pull down seat. There was the stationary and a hand held showerhead available for use. The shower was big enough for two pooh sized people to shower with plenty of room......I know this because we had a windy day and both headed straight to the shower after playing in the pool one day.

Basically, it's a nice roomy bathroom. The only thing that I didn't like was just how dim the lights were at the vanity. I am not a makeup kind of girl, but those of you out there that are would most likely want to bring a lighted mirror along for the trip.

The patio has sliding glass doors and lead out to an amazing view of palms and greenery. When it rained, we had a couple of ducks come visit the rocky puddle area just outside the room. I can't tell you just how nice it was to go out there and just relax in the mornings. Maggie

The Poly was wonderful. I can't tell you just how much we enjoyed being there. It was the first time that I can say that being at WDW was more about having a resort experience than a park experience. Due to the wind and rain that was a big part of the first few days of our time in Orlando, we chose to change out our park touring schedule and several of our ADR's along the way. We dined at Kona twice for breakfast and twice for dinner. We also decided to pay OOP for the category 1 Luau, which we were blessed to have been able to book on Halloween night. We wore our fresh flower leis to the Luau. The DDP was great and while we didn't use it to the maximum of it's potential, we did still very much so get our money's worth out of it. Beverly at Kona Cafe is still a treasure! We enjoy her service and her company whenever we go there. Mousekeeping did a great job for us. We even had turndown service without requesting it. The resort was peaceful and just beautiful. The Concierge staff were all just wonderful....David, Marta, and Daysi went all out for us.

Gabby had a birthday cake delivered to our room on Friday. She ordered it about two weeks ahead of time before we left for our vacation. The cake tasted great, but she was rather upset that they did not put Pumbaa on it as requested and instead decorated it with pink frosting and a flower. It was pretty, but not what she ordered. Luckily, the bill was altered to a lowered total reflecting the fact that they couldn't properly fill the order. She said that she wished that someone had called her to ask about alternate decoration instead of assuming what would be appreciated. I thought it was pretty, but she was not happy that I didn't get the cake that she wanted me to have. In case you can't guess, I love Pumbaa! My car tag says Pumbaa, I collect Pumbaa pins, well, you get the idea. This was not the fault of the resort itself, rather a problem with the bakery.

Overall, the view of the fireworks from the Concierge Lounge was just great. On my birthday, we went there and saw the HalloWishes presentation. It was better than what we saw last year. I think they have tweaked it for this year. If it had been that good last year, I think that we might have gone to a MNSSHP this year, but that's a whole other issue. The fireworks are definately safer to view in the CL than from Main Street. The night before Gabby tried to be really sweet and take me to the MK just to see Wishes, but it was a really windy night and after the first "set" were finished, she pulled me away from the crowd saying that she needed to get to the light, and we were quickly inside the ice cream parlor. Her eye was bright red and swollen. She had a ground pepper sized flake of fireworks debris in her eye. I removed it, but her eye was really painful, so I lead her to first aid. Bill, the LPN there, flushed her eye out and gave her a cold pack. We went to the guest services desk and filled out a report, just in case she had to go to the ER later. Luckily, she was much better the next day and is almost 100% better today. Still it was scary! So, as I said, viewing fireworks from the CL is much safer!

We really had a wonderful stay at the Poly. I would love to do it again sometime, but I do wish that it was just a little bit cheaper. Maggie
