we arrive in 22 days, currently 2 rooms at sports, I haven’t decided if I want to apply some extra money to next years trip or upgrade to FT wilderness cabins or maybe somewhere else, do they have hot tubs at the pool at ft wilderness ? Can we ask upon check in to see what available and prices?
I have a bad hip and joint issues so I am thinking a hot tub would be great.
I need extra space because I often need to head back mid day and rest, I don’t want to make the kids be quiet so 2 rooms works for us or a separate bedroom
TIA

The Meadow Swimmin' Pool and WIlderness Swimmin' Pool both have a "whirlpool spa", which I guess is the equivalent of a hot tub.

Typically, upgrades at check in are done for the same resort but not to another resort. If you want the Fort, then you should probably make the change now. However, getting around the Fort can be cumbersome and you may find that with a hip and joint problem, this may not be the better choice for you.

If there's availability you can switch resorts. Last week I was able to switch on site from All Star Movies to Coronado Springs with no issues.

I've never stayed at FW, but it's considered a moderate and the rest of the mods have hot tubs at the main pool. I have heard it's a large resort to navigate, so if you don't have a car you may want to add in the cost of renting a golf cart.

Resorts are frequently sold out, so I would book the resort that you want to stay at honestly.

Sports is a smaller resort, so it is a decent choice for one with joint issues. Ft. Wilderness is quite large, and I agree that you'll want to factor in renting a golf cart if staying there. It also makes it a bit more time consuming to go back for afternoon rests.

Ok thank you, we will have a car

Actually, I had a problem with my room and they had Mickey pay for my upgrade. I was willing to pay, but they took care of it. I think if I'd had to pay out of pocket, the cost would have been about $200 for the remainder of my reservation.

There's something I'm not quite sure regarding upgrades at check-in: suppose rack rate for my room is $100, but I have a 35% discount and paid only $65. If I want to upgrade to a room whose rack rate is $150, how much will they ask me for? $50, $85 or $32.50?

$50 would be the difference between the rack rates of the room I paid for, and the room I want to upgrade to.

$85 would be the difference between the rack rate of the room I want to upgrade to, and the price I paid (essentially, giving up any discount).

$32.50 would be the difference between what I paid, and the room I want to upgrade to, with the same discount applied (assuming it is still available).

Thanks to anyone that can help me solve this mystery about WDW upgrades!

$85... You are paying the difference between room rates. If you had a discount on the first room then there is a larger difference to pay .

Thanks, that clears up all the questions that I had!
