Upgrade to Yacht Club or Boardwalk- which to choose?

No. They were having issues with a couple of the Murphy Beds at the Riviera Resort. No issues at CBR. However, CBR and POR are not allowing 5 adults in the rooms with Murphy Beds going forward. Losing too much $$ on free dining with 5 adults in one room. This has been in the works for a couple months now.
Wow, didn't know this. Even though I could never put five people in a moderate room I thought this was what the fifth sleeper was for? Are they allowing four adults and a child or four adults and a teenager?

We prefer BC to YC as we like the lighter woods and colours at the BC, it's slightly closer to Epcot entrance and it does feel a bit stuffier than BC. But I'd say that the rooms may be bigger than BWI although we were in a corner King bed room last month so the room may be smaller (ironically it's the same room we were in on our first visit in 2000). Although we've stayed in larger rooms at BWI, it was just my perception that the YC room we were in in September was larger. Also, YC rooms were recently renovated. Lots of storage space - much more than BWI - and there was a sliding door that you could pull across the sink area in the YC rooms both of which would be benefits for a group of 5 in a single room. And there is Stormalong Bay which we love.

Its all about that pool to me. I would take either BC or YC. I could stay there and not go into the parks at all and have a wonderful time.

Hi
Will you please clarify if you are referring to a Disney adult (age 10) or an actual adult (age 18) in reference to not allowing 5 in a room at Caribbean Beach and Riverside? We are a family of 5 with 3 children and would love to know if this will effect us moving forward. Thanks!
They are adult-adults 18,26,28.

Thank you! Congratulations on the upgrade! My kids favorite is the Beach Club due to the pool, specifically the lazy river at Storm Along Bay (which is shared with the Yacht Club). The Epcot area is fantastic so you can’t go wrong with either one!

We've got kids about the same age and they love Yacht Club. The pool really can't be beat if the family is into that type of thing. And Boardwalk used to have a clown face at the end of its slide, and we have some folks who don't like clowns. I also think the dining options are a bit better at Yacht Club.

We LOVE YC and stormalong bay pool! We typically don’t use the pools at WDW as we live on the water and can swim and boat anytime. We tried YC for the first time last September and spent every afternoon in the pool! Loved the lazy river! I love that YC didn’t feel as busy as other resorts and the staff was amazing! We also loved Ale and Compass!

Yacht club is better for me in terms of dining as well. Everything is contained in the hotel itself. Boardwalk requires a walk outside.

An actual 18 yr old adult.

Originally it was.

4 adults, one under 18 and one under 3.

I am so confused with this one. So Disney won't allow five adults in some of these rooms but will allow four adults and a 16-year-old? I looked today at some of the rooms at POR and the preferred rooms listed as sleeping five adults and I think I seen some listed at CBR that listed five adults. But the 5th sleeper did say four adults. I am lost, lol. Does Disney just not allow these rooms with the occupancy of five to be book with free dining? (that is what got my attention and curiosity) I could see them losing money on a moderate resort with three or four adults and say a teenager in them. Or just two adults and three teens.

Correct. Or even a guest who's 17 and 11 months.

No, you're not. WDW as usual is extremely slow in updating the website.

As long as only 4 of the 5 guests are adults you most definitely can book them with Free Dining.

That's the reason they eliminated the ability for the 5th guest to be an adult. The weren't making enough during Free Dining with 5 adults in one room. That's also why the Club Level rooms at YC and BC don't allow 5 guests any longer.

Wow! I had no idea. That just sounds desperate on their part. I mean, I bet they really hate it when mom and dad have three teenagers in the rooms with them. It is a wonder they don't limit those CL rooms to just four people.

Or have they done that already? Limiting the CL rooms to just four people?

Boardwalk - We never spend any time in pools while at Disney so I always choose the action.

That being said, YC isn't that far away.

Actually, I believe Y & B club level are not bookable for any parties of 5... even if some of them are kids. Just 4 people plus one baby in a crib.
