upgrade to pool view question at AKL

would you pay $163 total for 7 nights to upgrade from a standard view to a pool view at AKL? Or would you just use that money for something else?

Can anyone share what they think of the difference between the two views?

How often are you in the room? If a decent chunk, yeah. Standard can be parking lot, etc.

we will be at the resort a fair amount of time - our days will be split about half between the park and the resort. On touring plans it looks like the pool view rooms ar a lot closer to the main lobby and I am assuming the quick service, which we would go to pretty often for drink refills.

We LOVE the pool view at AKL. I would definitely pay the extra $163 for 7 nights. the views of the pool are very pretty and the rooms there tend to be conveniently located. If we aren't staying savanna, we stay pool view. I am not fond of parking lot views and that is a possibility with a standard view booking.

I would, if only for the convenient location. AKL is such a beautiful resort...we absolutely loved our stay there! One thing to consider though is if you would mind hearing kids playing in the water or loud music in the middle of the day since they do pool activities/games/races with the kids daily. If you plan on napping mid-day it may not be the best location for you, but if you enjoy people watching or have plans to get in some pool time yourselves it would be perfect. Early mornings they powerwash the sidewalks around the pool area also. We stayed in a savanna view near the lobby and the convenience to everything (bus, lobby, pool, Mara, Boma) was awesome! Especially after a long park day!

Yes! We had a pool view close to elevator that is near the quick service. Very handy for pool too. The pool area is beautiful, and with balcony door closed we didn't hear any pool noise.
With standard view I think there is a disconnect with resort.
Unless it's going to make it a hardship with your budget, I'd book pool view.

Like PPs said, the pool is beautiful. We saw some ducks swimming in it late night one night (animal views!! ). I also liked that I could see what activities were going on so I could bring my DS and DD down to participate. When our balcony doors were closed, you couldn't hear any noise from the pool.

Somewhat......Sorry to hijack this thread, but we are also considering AKL for our next trip and we want to get a room with bunk beds...my hubby does not want to pay for the bunks in a Savanna view bc its too much $$$. Does the standard rooms have a bunk bed option? Or is that only in Pool view and savanna view?

I think for < $25/nt the pool view is a great upgrade to your view at AKL

Thanks everyone - I did book the upgrade and it looks like I did it just in time, because today there is no availability for the awaken summer offer for pool view for my dates! I am so looking forward to our visit and I am very pleased about the pool view room!

Does the standard rooms have a bunk bed option? Or is that only in Pool view and savanna view?

I think only the savanna and pool views have the bunk bed option - I haven't seen it on the standard view rooms.

I usually don't recommend upgrading, but yes. I think a pool view is worth about $23 per day. I'm glad you got it!

I know you already did but I would have said yes not for the view but because of where the view is. The rooms with the pool view are always closer to the lobby and Mara as well which I find convenient. I tend not to even look at the view much though.

The location is really what pushed it over the top for me - I know we will be refilling our mugs a lot and my kids want to swim everyday. They get about as excited about the pool as they do the parks!

Time will fly by! It was so nice drinking coffee on the balcony every morning looking out over the pool. Also, I swear they have sound proof doors. You couldn't hear a thing when the door was closed
