Upgrade to Platinum

I just received my Platinum AMEX Starwood card. I have been spg Gold (on and off) for years (my current Gold status is due to expire this month), with most of my points earned at the Swan and Dolphin! I am looking for accurate information on the availability of a spg card upgrade to Platinum based on the Platinum AMEX card. Has anyone had luck with this? I am also a Loews Platinum through the end of this year (and will be using the "free suite" upgrade for my stay this July. I also have reservations at the Dolphin for July. Thank you.

The AM Card only upgrades you to Gold. IT will not go plat. for you sorry. If you are already Gold that is where you will stay

Starwood should be able to give you an upgrade to Platinum with proof of Lowes Platinum... I was able to get upgraded with my Hyatt diamond to Starwood Platinum... Good Luck

I just called the Starwood number and they won't do the plat upgrade with loews. Most other programs though!

i want to thank the starter of this thread!!
we were approved for a platinum starwood Amex!!
and we are in the starwood preferred plus program,
it is the same benifits as the GOLD card, and we will see
if there is an upgraded room!!
