Hello!

Staying at RPR from 2/8 to 2/12 :cool1: Booked into a Standard Queen room. Currently booked under the APH rate (buying the AP when I arrive).

Is there any way to get a Park View (which I would think is normally the next level up in room - Water View?) in a Standard Queen booking?

In other words, if I booked the Standard Queen room, is there any way to request a room that might include a view of the Park OR is there any way to get a free upgrade?

I know the Loews First program used to offer upgrades but I don't visit enough to qualify for those perks. Last time I was at the hotel was in 2009, Club level.

Thanks so much!!

We stayed at RPR last August and I had booked a standard queen but put in a request at the time of booking for a park view. I was informed upon check-in that this would be a room upgrade but that this was my lucky day and that I was getting a complimentary upgrade to accommodate my request. It never hurts to ask....if you don't ask, you don't get. Good luck!

:wave2: Perv, sometimes you get lucky and get the upgrade free.
kind of depends on the occupancy level of the hotel at times.

if they have the rooms available, you could get lucky!

if you call and ask to have a park view listed on your ressie and if they say only pool views are open, make a decision if you want to go that route.

there are some standard park views in tower 1 that are not pool views that give you the park view.

you can wait until you check in and ask at that time.

i find that the earlier you can check in makes it more possible to get the upgrade without the costs.

there are more rooms in the system that are open at the beginning of the day.

I too am getting my AP when I arrive, but have booked a standard room using the APH rate.

My question/concern is...the hotel site says "Annual Passholder Rate" but doesn't specify and when I talked to the rep, I asked if it mattered what level AP I had. She said, it doesn't matter.

BUT, the annual pass section of the UO website says Power Passholders are not entitled to hotel discounts...or any discounts.

Anyone ever use the Power Pass AP to get hotel discounts?

Any problems?

It doesn't pay to get the Preferred Pass for me since I only get down there once every two years or so.

HELLO MAC!!! :yay: Thanks for the suggestions. I'm getting so psyched for the trip and would loooove a great view! Perv :lmao:

This is a GREAT question! All I've read says you need at least a Preferred Pass to get the hotel discounts. Will be interesting to see what others say!

i'm sure you don't want to hear this but only the preferred and premier annual passes allow for the AP discounts for the hotels.

if you get the AAA, you can get close to 20, maybe 25% discount.
depends on the season.

i pay $42 a year for my AAA membership.

and, it gives you a 10% discount in the parks for food and merch.

some places in city walk honor AAA.

i thought the power pass was for fl. residents.
i'll go look it up to make sure.
i could be right or wrong on that one.

what i found is listed for Floridian residents.

i'll check some more.

The second one is the one I was talking about. On the hotel website when you enter the discount code for Annual Pass Holders to see hotel rates. It only says you need a valid Annual Pass, nothing about different level passes and when I spoke to the hotel reservation woman, I asked and she said no difference in pass levels. SO, the website is confusing me.

If I can use the Power Pass, I'll spend $50 more than I would for a 4-day park to park ticket (from Undercover Tourist) but I would save $120 over 5 night stay. The preferred pass is $249 + tax (vs. $190 + tax) so I would be losing money...

So confusing. I have sent them an e-mail previously. They were running ads in the Philly area with a web address, when I went to that address, I got the "extinct page". Sent them a comment, they called and said they weren't aware of the TV ads or the web page, but it was a Universal Orlando TV spot.

Hrmmmm.

Hrmmmm.

i totally understand what you are saying.

in the past years, only the preferred and premier were allowed the hotel discounts.

the wording on what i posted above on the power passes really makes it confusing.
(the word, "booking", makes it confusing to me.)

why don't you call the hotel direct and ask to speak to a supervisor?
get the person's name for backup in case it is needed later.

ask the supervisor if the power pass is acceptable for the ap hotel discount.

all we can do here is guess.

i pulled up the power pass info and it looks like the wording is a basic form used for all 3 passes for UO.

or, you could call the AP hotline and ask them also about the power pass.

the power pass does have black out dates where you can't use it.
check your dates and see if that will have any effect on your trip.

if you find out the power pass won't be eligible, check out the AAA membership.
you can buy discounted park passes with it or you could buy tickets thru Undercover Tourist.
both discount the UO tickets.

Thanks Mac,

We have our AAA as a back-up but the rates aren't as favorable.

We are headed there in two weeks (1/22-1/27) and have the room booked at $168 per night, but was hoping to get the AP and the AP rate of $144.

I'll probably get the Power Pass and then "discuss" it when I get there if they give me a hard time. Here's hoping since it's a slow time of year, I won't have trouble.

I can then use my AAA in the park for discounts.

And please come back and let us know how you made out. I leave about a week after you get back and would be interested to know what happened with the AP!

Thanks and have a GREAT trip!!

Thanks! I'll try to post from my phone when we are there.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Ordered the Power Pass today.
