Our trip is consisting of my self, my DW, and our DD(4). We are booked at CSR on November doing free dining. We are currently upgraded to the deluxe dining plan because we like the idea of the all-inclusive feel of the deluxe dining. There has been some concern about this because of the amount of food and time comment of eating at a bunch of table service. If we did not upgrade to deluxe dining it would make the option of upgrading to a deluxe resort more feasible. Any thought on the delude dining and how feasible of an option would be greatly appreciated.

We did the deluxe dining plan in 2011. Myself,DH, And 2 sons ages 18 & 15. The deluxe dining plan was way too much food. We would never do that again. It does take up alot of your trip trying to get from one reservation to another, especially when your reservations are in different parks. We had the free dining plan and upgraded to the deluxe. Even with that savings the food is way to much. I hope you have a great time and Happy Eating!

Since you are going during free dining, I would see if it is worth it to you. For example, I upgraded to Deluxe because I enjoy a 1 TS early lunch and a 2 TS dinner. I figured out what I would most likely eat and the cost. The math works for me.

Also, you do NOT have to eat an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert. You can refuse any portion you wish.

We've done the deluxe dining three times, it is a lot of food but we enjoy a character breakfast every morning and a table service dinner. We also book a few 2 credit meals (a dinner show or Cinderella's Royal Table for the kids) and it works well for us.

If dining is an imporatant part of your vacation and something that you will enjoy spending the time doing (i.e. more time for TS then just grabbing QS on the run), then I would go for the upgrade. If you're doing character meals and want to enjoy a lot of TS restaurants, it will likely work out to be worthwile for you. I also find I will try a lot of different foods that I wouldn't normally if I were paying OOP because I know that it's included and already paid for. Not very likely I would order apps with me meal, but having that option on the DxDP is a great way to try some new things.
